| Gucci is Limping Hello Forum: This morning my dog like every morning wakes up excited to go out side to pottey... my daughter like every morning open his cage and Gucci jumps out...the cage is the smallest of the small and this has never happened before. My daughter has stated that he jumped out and landed wrong I guess on his paw, it has startled me from my sleep from the scream of gucci, he would not put any pressure on it at first and would not allow me to touch it. After five minutes he allow me to touch and massage his leg. When I touch the top part of his joint above his paw it appear to be swollen slightly then when I massage he would scream. I am hoping it a sprain... Xrays are so expensive...He is now laying down on it, and when he tries to walk he tries to put pressure on it....Any suggestions? can I just soak his leg in Epsom salt? Thanks guys

| Poor Gucci! I hope you won't have to make a trip to the emergency vet, but be prepared to do just that if he keeps acting like it hurts. You can call them and I'm sure they'd be happy to tell you what they recommend you do. Hugs to you both!

| I'ms orry that Gucci is hurt but if he continues to favor it and seem to be in pain, obviously the vet is the answer. I really hope the Gucci is ok!! Keep us updated.

| Hope he continues to improve. Lucy had a sprain when she was about 6 mos old and after a trip to the vet and several days, I'd fill the bathtub up with warm water until I had to support her belly and let her swim. The vet said after that length of time it was the best thing for her.

| Bella had the same thing happen when she tried to jump up on the couch and didn't make it. She must have landed wrong and came down and let out some ear piercing yelps and wouldn't let me touch it. I rushed her to the vet, fearing the worst, they sedated her and did x rays and found nothing wrong. The vet gave me some anti-inflamatory for her for a week and she stayed sore for a while. The vet said not to let her run around, yeah right!! That was about 3 months ago and to this day she holds it up at times when she runs, but is fine other than that. It may take some time, but I'm sure your baby will come around. It is the most gut wrenching feeling when they hurt themselves and you don't know what is wrong. I cried more than she did! I hope Gucci is better soon
