Senior Yorkie Talker | Thanks for the information. Well, I called another spine surgeon, and I was told not to go through with the surgery. She is a 4 pound teacup, so the surgery is very risky and her recovery time will be very long. In addition, it is best that I continue with the holistic approach instead. Thanks again everyone! |

Senior Yorkie Talker | My vet said the same thing, but I told him I was going to get a second opinion by speaking with a surgeon too. Some surgeon won’t tell you that kind of information, because all they’re focused on is the money. Some will be honest though. Overall, I’m not going to gamble with her life, and possibly cause more problems. She’s 4 pounds and 1 years old with no signs of pain, so I will continue my holistic journey in her treatment care. |

There is no surgeon, or vet, or any medical person that I know of who would make a definitive medical decision *over the phone* about a 'spine surgery' and say something like "don't go thru with the surgery". Weight is always relative to the being -- so it actually does *not* determine outcomes. Weight does mean other things however (from a medical perspective) -- though I hesitate to name them now. There is nothing wrong w/ the holistic approach if it's the best answer and IF it's working - there are some modalities (esp for some spine issues) that can do wonders.
