Kami, this is wonderful news. I know you still have to be very cautious and Little Miko has a long, hard road ahead of him to pull thru, but with all the prayers and love being sent to him, he will have a little extra push on his side. It is so good to hear that you found a vet who really takes his job seriously and obviously loves animals. Will the vet let you set up a payment plan? Just a thought. If it goes up to 7 or 9 that I can take him home and he can be under ivs at home which isnt hard to do and that if he gets out of this horrible infection that he can have up to 30% or can surprise us all and have even more but he can live with it with special food and medications. My God this doctor has given my hope, I even got to see him they have him isolated considering lepto might be contagious but I got to pat his little head and he was awake, looked better to me. Now it is very very costly but I will do anything to save him, keep fighting. If anyone knows where I can start the possible process of donations, anything to help my baby because the costs will be so much more and it is already so much money. This is the latest update, there is a spark of hope. Praying Praying for my little baby to get well and come home to mommy because I miss him soooooo much.

I have a site that maybe can help you with medical bills - www.imom.org PLEASE Write them asap and tell them your story - it takes a few days for someone to get back to you ....I wrote them back when my son's little weiner dog was looking at huge medical bills...and even though I didn't use them - they did write me back -

Hi Everyone. Thank You for everyone's prayers, it is so wonderful to see caring people how wonderful, each one of you is wonderful. I am continuing to pray for my lil baby miko and with all of your prayers there is so much hope for him. Thank you and I hope soooooo much that he continues to improve and that he will get well. It is soooo great to hear better news than everything bad at once, a tiny part of me released some of the horrible stress I have been going through and my chest pains from this.

The bad news is that they are suspecting leptosterosis which can be contagious to humans, but that does not scare me, the chances of getting that virus are soooooo entirely small, I am fighting for him, I believe that anything is possible when there is a chance. Lets hope my little baby gets out of this horrible infection that this horrible petland or pupymill caused him. He could have gotten it from another dog or simply if he walked on contaminated urine and than licked his little paws. I hate Petland and i already started taking action. I faxed them over about 30 pages of my baby's bills and some results and diagnosis. Tomorrow they told me to call and speak with the main manager, if they wont help than we will take the matter to a great lawyer that we already have and they will have to do something and I really hope that they will get punished for this. Especially when this disease is spreadable to humans and that there is a possibility that they might have human leptosterosis on their hands.

Kami - this is the best news!! Please ask your vet about a payment plan - many of them have one - and don't worry about anything but getting Miko better.

Petland should pay 100% of these bills as he has been sick since you got him. He obviously came to you with Lepto and provided the tests confirm this is what it is, your vet should have no problem documenting that fact. It is a shame the other vet didn't find this right away.

I hate Petland too - in case you couldn't tell by my other posts.... but right now you just get that baby better and if you need help - there's lots of us that will jump in for you if we can do anything.....Keep thinking positive and try that IMOM site I wrote earlier too - it's worth a shot ....

So sorry to hear about your little guy. I can not image the heartache you are going thru. After reading your post I had to have a snuggle with my little one - they grab you heart from the first second. I hope the new Year brings good news for you and your baby. Glad to hear he is doing a little better. These dogs are tough survivors and have a lot of will power. I hope you get to bring him home soon.
