| Please pray for my little baby I found this forum a few weeks before I bought my baby and just love all of the support and information that has come my way. I picked up my puppy on Monday night (of last week) December 4th...he seemed just fine but by the second day was not eating. I had a vet appointment and he said he was fine just keep his blood sugar up..by the next day we had to rush him back to the vet and he instructed us further..well, on Friday night he began to throw up and have diarrhea so I took him to the emergency vet clinic and they told me that to find out what was wrong it would cost me around 2,000$$ and they instructed me it would be best to put him down...which I couldn't bare to do so they said they would charge me to keep him on fluids and keep getting his bloodsugar back up which eventually happened..emotionally distraught, I took him home and fed him every 2 hours and continued to give him Nutri-Cal...well, Sunday night I talked to the breeder and told her alot of vets and breeders (on this site) recommend I take him back to his mother a few more weeks..he was 8 weeks and right under a 1 lb. So I took him back there on Sunday and he actually ate a few bites of food but since has been sick again with diarrhea, I almost feel that he was better off with me force feeding him vs him with his mom who isn't nursing...but I keep hearing that if he will pull through he is better off there than under so much stress with his feedings... I do not know what to do, I am so in love with him already and we have bonded so much being together 24 hours a day since I got him... Just please pray for my little guy..he needs lots of prayers! |

| What an awful experience to go through for the two of you. Under 1lb is awfully tiny. It would scare me to death to take care of a little one that small. I do hope he pulls through being back with the breeder. Your right it is so easy to bond in such a short time. I hope he is back with you and healthy real soon. Carol & Buddy |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | You have my prayers too - has he been tested for coccidie and other parasites to rule them out ?? That ER Vet should have done that when you brought him in .... Poor little guy - that's so tiny and I hope he'll be ok |

| Ya he does have coccidia which we found out at his first appointment the first day I had him which we got Albon (?) to treat but on the following day, when we had the first blood sugar episode..the vet said to discontinue the use until he was eating normal and not so sick and weak... |

The coccidia is what is making him have diarrhea and vomitting. He really should be treated for that or he will get very dehydrated.

I know we need to trust the doctor to do what's best but that doesn't sound right at all. Coccidia is a single cell parasite and can lead to blood in the stool - throwing up - lethargy ...and SHOCK from dehydration if untreated...that baby needs to be on medication now.

| I am pretty sure that the sister of my breeder (vet tech and also a breeder) was beginning his treatment yesterday..I pray. If not,I will ask that they do that immediately...I wish my vet would have left him on that...that pisses me off so bad that it may be making him more ill by leaving him untreated. I pray that he will be alright. |

| I could have swore I replied to this! Keeping your baby in my prayers. And ouch on $2,000 bucks to just find out whats wrong. I was hoping your baby was at the breeders with their Mama, not the sisters. But at least their getting monitored, and vet tech will know what to do. Candle lit and prayers heading your way. |
