I know this is an old thread, but I would not scold the dog. It could ruin a stud, which she said it was. I would take away the object. Alot of times, hairs stop the penis from going back in fully also (not all the way from the bulbus glandis usually). For this, I use antibiotic sauve and gently remove hairs.

The fact that he had an erection is pretty normal, but it's not normal for his penis not to return to the sheath for "hours". Did your vet give you any ideas as to why this would happen and how to prevent it from happening again? One suggestion I would make is that you keep the hair clipped short in front of his penis and in his entire groin area. This not only helps keep him clean and tidy, but helps prevent his penis from becoming entangled in his hair.

My Cody James His lipstick is big like that too.. He humps his pillow. he gets it back in but not quite all the way so i try to help him out i throw sugar on it. one day he got stuck and it was big like that in the picture i freaked out. and he wouldn't get it back in. so i threw sugar on it and he wouldn't do anything. so omg are ya'll ready for this. i had to touch it and get it back in. i think i was more emabarassed than he was LOL I don't like when he humps. because he doesn't get it all the way back in. a little tip of it will still be out.

Maxwell will try to hump any toy that's bigger than he is! After I saw the photo in the first post, I've been getting rid of anything he wants to hump. A toy lion, and a big teddy bear -- out the door they went. yukko.
