Rabies shot-Gizmo won't stop shivering Hi, I took Gizmo to the vet for his rabies shot today, and that was four hours ago. He won't stop shivering. He's eaten since then, but even if I put him on a hot pad, he won't stop. Is this a reaction to the shot? Is he okay? What can I do? He's really small for his age; he only weighs 2 1/2 pounds. Am I overreacting? Help Please! Valerie

| Hi Valerie, call your vet and explain this to him. Ask him if this is normal. I know some babies have a reaction so it's better to confirm with your vet. Please let us know how he is doing!!

Definitely call your vet it sounds like a reaction and needs to be reported. Give him some Nutrical or Nutristat if you have it, if not Karo (corn syrup) or honey.

Gizmo is doing much better today. He is still not his normal self, but I think he's going to be okay. I gave him some Karo syrop. He's not eating as much as normal, but he's not constantly shivering anymore. I couldn't get ahold of the vet yesterday and it's Saturday now. (My husband's in the navy, and we're stationed in Japan so I only have one option, unless it's an absolute emergency; then I would take him to a Japanese vet.) Well, thank you all for your help. Sorry about the delay in an update, but I sleep while you are awake and vice versa. Valerie

Hi Valerie, Just wanted to say hi and let you know that I know exactly where you are coming from as we stationed at Yokota for 7 years. I have had to go off base to the Japanese vet on more than one occasion! It isn't that bad and really wasn't all that expensive. I hope your baby is back to normal soon! Kim and Teddy now in Alaska and soon to have orders as we should outta here in April.

Thanks for the update. So glad Gizmo is doing better now, I know how scary it can be when one of our babies gets sick.
