Rabies shot-Gizmo won't stop shivering Hi, I took Gizmo to the vet for his rabies shot today, and that was four hours ago. He won't stop shivering. He's eaten since then, but even if I put him on a hot pad, he won't stop. Is this a reaction to the shot? Is he okay? What can I do? He's really small for his age; he only weighs 2 1/2 pounds. Am I overreacting? Help Please! Valerie:( |
Hi Valerie, call your vet and explain this to him. Ask him if this is normal. I know some babies have a reaction so it's better to confirm with your vet. Please let us know how he is doing!! |
Definitely call your vet it sounds like a reaction and needs to be reported. Give him some Nutrical or Nutristat if you have it, if not Karo (corn syrup) or honey. |
So how is your baby now?:animal-pa |
How is your baby? An update please. |
Gizmo is doing much better today. He is still not his normal self, but I think he's going to be okay. I gave him some Karo syrop. He's not eating as much as normal, but he's not constantly shivering anymore. I couldn't get ahold of the vet yesterday and it's Saturday now. (My husband's in the navy, and we're stationed in Japan so I only have one option, unless it's an absolute emergency; then I would take him to a Japanese vet.) Well, thank you all for your help. Sorry about the delay in an update, but I sleep while you are awake and vice versa. :aimeeyork Valerie |
Glad to hear he's doing better!! Thanks for the update :) |
Hi Valerie, Just wanted to say hi and let you know that I know exactly where you are coming from as we stationed at Yokota for 7 years. I have had to go off base to the Japanese vet on more than one occasion! It isn't that bad and really wasn't all that expensive. I hope your baby is back to normal soon! Kim and Teddy now in Alaska and soon to have orders as we should outta here in April. ;) |
Thanks for the update. So glad Gizmo is doing better now, I know how scary it can be when one of our babies gets sick. |
