Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Please, please, I need an advise!!! Bengi has diarrhea!!!! Hi everybody! My bengi has diarrhea!!!! I'm not sure what caused it; there wasn't really a change in his diet, he didn't eat a lot of treats, he is acting normal. He had it since this morning. He went like 3 times and it has like a yellowish mucus. Does the mucus always indicate bacteria or it could be just upset stomach. I'm preparing some white rice. Should I give him some Pepto Bismol??? Any input will be highly appreciated. |

| Gracie just got over a bout of diarrhea. I took her to the vet and nothing showed up in the stool sample. I put her on a bland diet until two days after the last diarrhea stool. She is doing great now. I would suggest a vet visit just to be safe. The bland diet is boiled chicken, extra lean ground turkey, white or brown rice, scrambled eggs and cottage cheese, no seasoning on anything. The cottage cheese made Gracie's diarrhea worse so I stopped that.

| You need to get a stool sample to your Vet, these little guys can get coccidia, it is a parasite that multiplies during stress, it smells really bad, if that is what he has, he needs to be on a sulfur drug. He could also have giardia, metronidazole will clear that up. If their is any blood he needs to be on an antibiotic. So get your little guy to the Vet and get the proper amount of medicine he needs to clear him up. He could probably use a little butt cream, as his little butt probably is sore from his diarrhea. Keep us posted as to how he is doing, and remember these little guys can go down fast, and can come back fast. Make sure you keep his blood sugar level, Nutria Cal, 3 times a day. A stool sample is necessary to detrime what the cause of his diarrhea is from. Good luck, and remember tomorrow is Sat so try to have the stool sample early in the morning as all Vets here close at noon. |

| P.S. Graci's idea on a very bland diet is good. The Vet should have a list of bland diets for your baby, I give mine Sience Diet ID, it is easy on their tummies, and I use it for all their wet food, even my puppies eat it with no problems, it has good stuff in it like chicken, eggs, rice, etc. Good Luck, and let us know how he is doing! |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Update Bengi is doing better. He didn't need to use the bathroom during the night. He just went around 5:30 am and poop a soft stool but it had more consistency (sorry for being graphic...). It's still soft but I don't think that diarrhea. Then he went again like at seven and he did the same thing. Last night he had some white rice, so I think that helped. Still, I'm going to call the vet office and explained them what happened and see what they say... |
