| We believe sadie is going to be okay and will come home today hopefully Please forgive me because I must say the response I received to asking for help was phenomenal. I have never found a place where so many were willing to talk to me just about my pet and no one was judgemental. It was so cool because not only was Sadie about to die-I was feeling guilty as if I had done something wrong i.e. fed her something wrong etc. Plus there is the promise I made to my mother in law that I would take very good care of sadie and I just felt like I wasn't doing a good job. On Wednesday morning when I woke up-I couldn't find Sadie and I jumped out of bed and for each room I went into I found spots of blood-bright red blood and I was scared to death. I found her underneath the couch in my husband's studio and I picked her up and she was covered in blood between her back legs and her face was also covered. I was hysterical. I threw my clothes on w/out a shower and I drove straight to the vet. Sadie's uterus had descended and she was basically shedding her uterus. They did surgery on her immediately while we just prayed. She came out of surgery fine and with a little luck she may be able to come home today-but if not today-then tomorrow the vet said. (3) things I learned in the past (2) days; 1. I never want to come this close to loosing Sadie to anything again except her own tired old age when that time comes. 2. I now know I always have somewhere to go to ask any questions or talk about any concerns we have about Sadie because we are just Sadie lovers-we are not experts at caring for her. 3. Once I pick Sadie up from the vet's office today or tomorrow-we are never going back to him again. We had to go yesterday because it was an emergency-but I did do some research and I have found a complete diagnostic vet/animal hospital in Lawrenceville, IL which is just about 10 miles from here and I have heard great things about the vet and the hospital. I am going to learn all I can from this website about preventative pet care. Then I am going to live a long and happy life w/my Sadie Belle. I really thought about this whole process since the first time I noticed Sadie's 1st shaking spell which was the Saturday before Labor Day and how many times we went to the vet and how many times I called him to let him know there was definitely something wrong w/her. And, basically they just disregarded everything I said. She was in pain & very very sick for over a month and that is just not fair. I am not sure yet but I believe she lost almost 4 pounds and she only weighs about 9 pounds. Again thanks so much for all's concern and advise... I am just so happy! Jackie B |

| OMG, I'm soooo glad she's okay. Boy, if it were me, I'd give that vet a piece of my mind, my husband's mind, all of our minds here at YT and then I'd demand that no charges be incurred for her surgery. That guy needs to find another profession. I'd also turn him into the proper authoritative board for his oversight. His actions are totally unacceptable. Again, glad she's okay. Jacki K. |

| thanks so much Ditto-to all you said. Right now I am emailing all of my brother and sister in laws to let them know what is going on w/Sadie. I was just too upset to email them yesterday. Thanks so much for caring. I have never belonged to a group like this and it is just so cool. Jackie B I do have one more question though-Since Sadie hasn't eaten for so long and has lost so much weight-what should I try to feed her and how much at a time when she comes home? I don't even want to make her sick again. |

| Sorry, you found out the cause so dramatically, but at least you know what is going on and she is on the road to recovery. I am so glad you found her in time. I would just feed small frequent meals of her regular food (hopefully, a high quality one with no meat by-products or corn). If she won't eat then I would add a high quality canned. If she still won't eat I would temp her with boiled chicken and cooked white rice or oatmeal. I would also make sure she is getting plenty of fluids and give her Nutrical or Nutristat (high calorie food supplement). I am sure she will start putting back on the weight in no time at all. |

Jackie... As a mother of children and a furbaby, my advice to you is to always go with your gut feeling. You know better and if in doubt find another vet. asap. I am glad to hear the happy ending to this story and I hope Sadie comes home soon. She will be in my prayers for a fast recovery. Gina | |

| I agree with Lacy's Mom. You are her bond, you know her behavior better than anyone. Use your gut feeling and Sadie should have a long, healthy life. I am so glad she has finally gotten the proper care and is going to be ok and so happy you have found a realible vet for her. It's such a shame that vet let her suffer for so long, and you, too, since you knew something was wrong. You never have to be afraid or ashamed to ask a question here. There are many, me for one, who know absolutely nothing about small breeds. There are far more who do and who will help you and support you in any way they can. This is such an awesome place. WELCOME!

| I can imagine how frightened you were to find her that way. I had absolutely no idea what was wrong when I first read your post, but you had good advice and that was to find another vet. Remember, too, in the future, that no one knows Sadie as well as you do and when you see something wrong, you know it, even if you don't know what's causing it. I'm so happy you can bring her back home again soon. Let us know how she progresses? OK?

| I'm so glad to hear Sadie will make it. And also glad after going through this chit for a month.....you found another vet! Yea, your vet needs a good, old fashion a$$ chewing right before you fire him/her. |

| I'm so happy that Sadie will be fine :-) It's so tragic that animals have to suffer because some vets don't know what they're doing! Keep us posted on how she's doing! |

| What an emotional story. SO glad she finally got treated. About her eating. I don't know about animals with that much weight loss, but in an adult we would certainly not send her home until she could eat food and demonstrated that she could pass urine and stool before leaving the hospital. |

| Also I would pick her up from the vet where she had the surgery and immediately drive to the new vet. I would tell them the entire history. Then do whatever is recommended. I am curious as to why the happened to her. Does she have a malignancy somewhere? I think you should definately get her to the new vet. Keep us posted. |
