We believe sadie is going to be okay and will come home today hopefully Please forgive me because I must say the response I received to asking for help was phenomenal. I have never found a place where so many were willing to talk to me just about my pet and no one was judgemental. It was so cool because not only was Sadie about to die-I was feeling guilty as if I had done something wrong i.e. fed her something wrong etc. Plus there is the promise I made to my mother in law that I would take very good care of sadie and I just felt like I wasn't doing a good job.
On Wednesday morning when I woke up-I couldn't find Sadie and I jumped out of bed and for each room I went into I found spots of blood-bright red blood and I was scared to death. I found her underneath the couch in my husband's studio and I picked her up and she was covered in blood between her back legs and her face was also covered. I was hysterical. I threw my clothes on w/out a shower and I drove straight to the vet. Sadie's uterus had descended and she was basically shedding her uterus. They did surgery on her immediately while we just prayed. She came out of surgery fine and with a little luck she may be able to come home today-but if not today-then tomorrow the vet said.
(3) things I learned in the past (2) days;
1. I never want to come this close to loosing Sadie to anything again except her own tired old age when that time comes.
2. I now know I always have somewhere to go to ask any questions or talk about any concerns we have about Sadie because we are just Sadie lovers-we are not experts at caring for her.
3. Once I pick Sadie up from the vet's office today or tomorrow-we are never going back to him again. We had to go yesterday because it was an emergency-but I did do some research and I have found a complete diagnostic vet/animal hospital in Lawrenceville, IL which is just about 10 miles from here and I have heard great things about the vet and the hospital. I am going to learn all I can from this website about preventative pet care. Then I am going to live a long and happy life w/my Sadie Belle.
I really thought about this whole process since the first time I noticed Sadie's 1st shaking spell which was the Saturday before Labor Day and how many times we went to the vet and how many times I called him to let him know there was definitely something wrong w/her. And, basically they just disregarded everything I said. She was in pain & very very sick for over a month and that is just not fair. I am not sure yet but I believe she lost almost 4 pounds and she only weighs about 9 pounds.
Again thanks so much for all's concern and advise...
I am just so happy!
