Hi Mary Lin- I'm so sorry to hear your little one is sick, my heart goes out to you. My dog was just diagnosed with pancreatitis this weekend too Like your dog, mine has also always had a sensitive stomach, my Max is 2 years old this month. Poor guy wouldn't stop vomitting for almost 24 hours this weekend. I'll keep your little one in my prayers as I pray for my own. Luckily my dog has not yet been hospitalized, but I am being very cautious since I've heard that dogs with pancreatitis have to be watched closely when recovering, and that it can be a bit of a roller coaster. I would say follow your gut feeling about getting a second opinion. If you feel you should, then do. I'm not sure what caused his illness, my dogs don't eat table scraps or people food, and I feed them candidae dog food with a missing link supplement. Please keep us posted on how your little one is doing and any insights the doctor gives you.

I am so sorry that Basil is so sick. I hope he is feeling better by now. I would not hesitate to get a second opinion if you are not satisfied with the results. It is my understanding that puppies can get better from this you just have to be very careful with their diet. No table scrapes or food high in fat content. I am sorry to hear you lost your husband. Prayer's coming your way for Basil. Also, welcome to YT, there are lots of good people here ready to help any way they can.

| Everything I've read regarding Yorkies and pancreatitis says that they could be hospitalized for a few days. However, if they start eating again too soon they could easily relapse. We all have Basil in our thoughts. Stay strong - before you know it Basil will be the perky little furbaby you've always known!

Update Well, Basil did well over the weekend with only one vomitting episode. She ate today well and although the vet said she could come home today I asked her to keep her one more day just to see how she held the food down. (For my peace of mind more than anything.) She said she was chipper this morning too so that's good. I'll be able to call the vet again tomorrow around 10. She said if she did well overnight, I'd be able to take her home. Keep your prayers coming!!!! Thanks for everyone's kind reply's. It really helped keep my nerves at bay. You all are sooo wonderful. Thanks again.

OH, one more thing... Basil didn't eat ANYTHING fattening and I have never fed her anything but Hill's Science Diet since I got her. I'm border line neurotic about what she eats because I've heard of such bad things that stem from giving them table food. The Dr. said it was an inflammation that could have been sparked by anything (including the new surrounds of her new house). Craziest thing! Thanks again. ML

Hooray! I am so glad Basil will be home with her Mommy tomorrow. Catch up on your cuddle time and let us know how she is doing when you get a minute. I'm glad you don't feed her table food and hopefully she won't have this problem again.

Basil is doing GREAT!!! She is pretty much her old self again. No upset tummy so far. She is as playful as ever and slept under the covers at my feet like she always does, last night. What a great feeling to wake up in the morning with her sleeping on my pillow on top of my head!! :-) Gosh these little ones are just so wonderful to have around..... Thanks again everyone.
