| Hi everyone, I just wanted to say thank you very much for all the warm welcomes and well wishes and also prayers. I did go out and buy some vasiline this morning and put it on him. His skin is looking good. I am just waiting for all the dead skin to fall off. Is Oatmeal baths a good idea for a bath for him once a week or so. I am trying to cut down on bath time for him. I think the other problem is I also do Water therapy on him twice a week. It really help with movement. I do not put anything in the water. It is just him in his life jacket and me holding him doing the exercises in the water. I dry him as much as possible. I do not dare to use a blow dryer on him, because he is very jump right now after everything and I don't want to make him jumpier. He has to keep his neck still at all times. I have made him cervcial collars to wear to keep his neck straight. I again thank you all for the info you have all given me. I am trying one thing at a time. I will keep you all updated on his progress. He goes back to the surgent next Monday. I will let you all know how he makes out. Have to run he is calling me. Thank you again. Val |

| Oatmeal shampoo is excellent for dry skin. When you dry him, towel dry him thoroughly. You can put the towels in a dryer and have them ready to use and they'll be warm and feel good to him. P.S. He's very lucky to have a mom like you.

| Ok...I don't want you to think I'm crazy, but here in South Louisiana the best thing for rash type, blistered skin is a cream called "Boudreaux's Butt Paste". I thought my doctor was joking when he told me to get it for my son. He had horrible diaper rash with blisters & bleeding...and the Boudreaux's Butt Paste worked wonders. My sister is a registered nurse and she said they use it at the hospital on adult patients all the time. I would be more than happy to pick up a tube for you and send it out. Just let me know. Thanks.. Jill

| New Update Hi there Yorkie Lovers, I just had to write really quick to let you all know that all your well wishes and prayers are working. I just got done giving Babybear his water therapy and he was swimming with all four paws. I was jumping for joy. I jumped for joy the first time he moved a leg on his own, but this is a big jump for joy this time. I usually don't give him Water therapy on Thrusday nights. I usually do it on Wednsdays, but he was so full of energy today. I almost crawled out of his basket this morning. And this afternoon when I got home from work I held him for a while and all he wanted to do is stand in my legs. With me holding him of course. And then him swimming. I want to have a jump for joy or something. Hopefully soon I will have to clean paw I am not going to rush it though. I know about the two steps forward and one step back I have had more than that with him. So I am happy for now. Thank you very much again for all the well wishes and prayers. Val and Babybear |

| I know this is way off subject but you said he has a livershunt? Did they do a Bile Acid test on him? You dont want to mess around with this if he does have it. Livershunt needs to be surgically repaired. Im happy to hear hes recovering from this injury. Im just concerned about this livershunt. Please do some research on it http://tsfannymaelivershuntfund.home...com/index.html http://www.vet.utk.edu/clinical/sacs/shunt/faq.shtml Livershunt kills if not surgically corrected. Im not a vet but did your vet mention something about Atlantoaxial Instabilty? This can happen from extreme trauma to the neck. http://www.petplace.com/dogs/atlanto...ion/page1.aspx |

I don't remember the surgent saying anything about that, but that sure sounds like my Babybears problems. He has cried since he was about 8 months old for someone to rub his neck. I kept taken him to the vets and my vet kept saying it was a pinched nerve not to worry. They would give me something to relax him and send me home every time. Then in May he had a incident where my husband walked up beside him and to ask him what he was barking at and Babybear fell to his side and had a seziure. We started to rush him to the vets and he got up and started running around. So I called the vet and asked the for an appointment and they told me to come in about an hour later. Well Babybear was walking sideways. It seemed funny. They told me that he pinched his nerve again but this time it caused him to have a seziure gave me meds again and sent me home. I thought that was all true, because I had just a week before had my mother in the hospital for a pinched nerve that threw her into a sezuire. Then this happend 6 weeks tomorrow. But this time he broke his neck. Oh and also I have researched the livershunts and he has none of the symtoms of that. Thank goodness. THis is bad enough. When this all happend he weight 15 pounds and I have notices with the livershunts the dogs are very small in size. He sure wasn't small in size. He has since lost weight because of not eating as well, but he is starting to make up for that also. I want to thank you again for the sites you sent me too. I love to research things. ANd this helps me alot. So now I can go into the vets on Monday knowing more questions to ask him. Thanks Val |

| I hope that info has helped you in some way. Maybe you can find a vet who knows what it is and go from there. |
