| more than 5 teeth pulled!!! On Monday Tila has to have a ton of teeth pulled I'm guessing they have to take a little nap to do this I'm SOOO scared We found out a while ago but I didn't really want to say anything The doctor says he still isn't sure how many I'm so scared Tila only weighs 4 lbs.!! Why do they have to put them under when they're so small? All she would honestly need was some pain meds one person to hold her one person to open her mouth and one to pull the teeth. |

| Roots on baby teeth can be very long and hard to extract and sometimes even have to be dug out. They really do need to be put under. I had K.C.'s baby teeth pulled, five if I remember right and he had no problems and really didn't seem affected by it at all. He was 10 months and 3 pounds 14 oz. Just pay the extra for the pre-anesthesia blood work to make sure there are no problems. Also, make sure the vet is familiar with toy breeds and uses a safe anesthesia like isoflurane and does not give a preinjection barbituate. I would also recommend you have the spay at the same time so you only have to risk anesthesia once, if you are not going to breed her (she may even be too small to breed). |

| Rocky weighs right at 5lbs, and when he was 10 months (now 11 months) old he had 13 teeth pulled. He did just fine, and it did not even seem to bother him. |

| Joey went in last week to have his teeth cleaned and 4 had to be pulled. I had them do the pre-op bloodwork to make sure everything was okay before the put him under. Joey weighs 3 lbs 8 ozs and with everyone's prayers here from YT, he did just great. It was scary and the week before I was nothing but a bag of nerves. So I will send prayers and well wishes to you and your baby.

| I would get bloodwork done...it's better to be safe than sorry. I think it's only like $20 or so. Hobbs was not ever 3 lbs when he was put to sleep to get neutered and he had to get teeth pulled as well. I'm sure she'll be fine! |

| I think it was about $35.00. My vet actually makes you sign a specific release of liability and refusal to not get the preop blood work done so I think it is very important. |

She should be fine, but I've read on here about getting gas instead of anestetic. Ask your vet about that, and get second opinions and do research, anything to help make you more comfortable. Good luck

| Ahhh...poor little Tila! How old is she now? Are you getting her spade too? If so, they should do it while she's having that surgery so they don't have to put her under twice. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and hoping and praying all goes well! When Maddie was spade, all her baby teeth had fallen out, so she didn't need any pulled...so I cannot relate to how they do afterward. I hope for a very quick recovery! Hugs to you!

| Tila is almost 8 months, 4.4 lbs. I don't think we're going to get her spayed and we quite honestly can not afford it we don't have any other dogs and we might breed her depends on how much she ends up weighing I'm scared!!! I really hope she does well but thanks for letting me know it isn't a bigger deal for small dogs keep us in your thoughts! |

| I had only had my first yorkie, Lulu, for a week and a half, and she was literally the size of a dollar bill when she had to have a double hernia repair. We found out so quickly that I had little time to worry. But even though she was one of the smaller that the animal center here had ever operated on the surgery went perfectly. Yours will go well too, good luck to you. |

I'm not trying to be rude in anyway so please don't take this as that. If you cannot afford to get her spaid, it's going to be more expensive if she gets pregnant. Also, what about the health problems that can cause w/ unspaid females? How are you going to afford that if you can't afford a spay? I understand if you do plan on breeding her, than obviously you won't get her spaid, but if it's because you can't afford it, you might be spending more in the long run.

| Oscar was 7mths old, 2.8lbs when he went in for his neuter and he had 14 teeth pulled at the same time. They kept some of the teeth to show me afterwards and the roots on some of these teeth were an inch long - They definitely need to be put out for the extractions, I couldn't stand the thought of them being awake for that kindof pain! They gave Oscar antibiotics and pain killers afterwards and after a day he was good to go.
