Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali had Kennel cough when I got her and coccidia ( a parasite and weighed 1 lb it took over 3 months for her to get over it. She was on 3 rounds of antibiotics and it just went away eventually. She gave it to my older dog and it took her 4 months to get over it. Iwouldn't worry about it killing her.It is like a human getting a cold/virus. The main thing is you don't want it going into pneumonia so the antibiotics help with that. It sounds like you are doing everything right and she should be fine. The diahrrea can be from the antibiotics or stress.

| The antibiotics will keep her from developing more serious pnemonia. Their immune system must really defeat the kennel cough on its own. You might want to talk to the vet about giving her immune system boosters like Vitamin C and Echinacea. |

My little girl that I just got on Sunday came down with Kennel Cough. We took her to the vest yesterday and now she is on antibiotics. Hopefully she'll be alright! Other than coughing, she is eating and playing like normal. She is also coughing up white foam. Does anyone know if this is just one of the symptoms of Kennel Cough, or is it something else that I should worry about?!

| As long as you keep the kennel cough controlled she will be fine....Bellas progessed into a respitory infection.....if she is eating and playing and taking her meds she is good....myabe you could give her 3 drops of vitamin E in her food per day...my vet said that strengthens the immune system. Also.....you could put a vaporizer next to where she sleeps...that will hep her cough. I had to put bella into the hospital this morning.....i am going to visit her around 5 today...i hope theya re nice to her....she looked soo sad when i left.....it was hard.....i wonder if it is better for me to visit a lot or a little...???

She is playing and eating like normal today. Her cough seems to be better than last night. Hopefully it won't turn into anything serious. Thanks for all your responses!

What antibiotic is your baby on? When my vet put mine on ALBON, he couldn't handle it. It is a sulfur antibiotic and was making him throw up the white foam. The vet said that all that hacking is what actually causes the mucus to foam up in the throat..? I put some of the foam in a little baggie to take to the vet and by the time I got to the vet with the baggie, it was clear liquid. My baby's kennel cough has been treated with every kind of antibiotic now....the cough would not go away.....still has not.! BUT.......extensive testing has now shown congestive heart failure. So......., he will always have a nasty cough, and take antibiotics and Lasix for the rest of his short little life. We are sending up prayers for you and your baby....please keep us updated and know that yorkietalk is an awesome place for support.

Myyorkies, I really hate to hear that your little one has congestive heart failure. He is very lucky to have you as a mommy...you obviously take very good care of him. My thoughts and prayers will be with you! If there is any change in his condition, please keep us updated! I am just hoping and praying that Hootie's condition does not turn into something more serious. I'll keep you updated, though! Thanks for the words of advice everyone!
