| Burned Foot PADS!! HELP!! PLEASE I am having a BBQ today for father's day and my little louie was outside with us running around...all of a sudden he started crying loudly..because he was running on the hot bricks near the pool area he burned his foot pads...I didn't realize this could happen to these little guys, it's never happened before. HELP, I am a hysterical mess with him crying. What can I do to relieve his pain should I take him to the vet? I am so mad at myself, I didn't know this could happen with him he's always outside with us and he's always been fine. Please help...

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | how big of a piece of his pad is hanging off? is it just a flake or is it deep? if its deep it might need to be sutured and he might need a booty put on for a few days. If its not too bad put some neosporin on it and then put a sock over his foot and tape the sock around his ankle so it won't fall off

| Thanks for replying so quickly guys. He seems to be doing fine..I'm still taking him to the vet tomorrow. I feel so terrible, I have cried my eyes out-feel like such a bad mommy. I'll keep you guys posted on what the vet says tomorrow. The little piece that is dangling is not deep..but I want to be sure. My poor baby.

| Don't feel bad, I wouldn't have thought about it either. Are you sure they got burned? Maybe he scratched it on something that was on the ground. I have heard to watch them on the road in the summer but unless I was walking them for a long time on the road I wouldn't ever think about a dog burning his paws. Poor thing. I hope everything turns out ok, I'm sure it will. Keep us updated.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | POOR BABY ! That sounds awful and I agree with everyone - accidents happen - Did you ask the vet if you could give him a tiny bit of Baby Asprin for pain ? Sometimes it's ok - but PLEASE CALL and check with the VET first before ever giving medication - I hope he has a good night and sleeps well - and good luck tommorrow - I'd keep a very close eye on him tonight just in case..... |

| I hope your little one is feeling better. Don't feel like a bad mom. These things happen sometimes. The fact that you are so concerned is what makes you a good mom. Best of luck at the vet. We will say a prayer for your little one.
