| taking meds bunjee was prescribed a week's worth of antibiotics. i started out putting pill in his beef jerky treat since that's soft and he'd eat it without hesitation at first. but now he's wised up and will try to separate the pill from the treat or else ignore the treat all together. is there another way for him to take his meds? |

| This sounds worse than it is..... tilt your yorkies head back take the pill and put it as far back in the dogs mouth ( on the toungue) quickly shut thier mouth hold it closed and give one quick breath into thier nose. My reccomended this to give pills for colitis for Gracie and it worked like a charm for like five days and then she got wise and would slide it to the side of her mouth not swallow and spit it out under the bed. Needless to say we now have to order a liquid compound from a pharmacy in southern jersey and have it overnighted at a cost of 55 dollars for a two week supply as opposed to the 8 dollar pill from my vet........So it say use this method until they get jip to it and then go back to the drawing board....LOL

| thanks for the tip... that might actually work in my favor... bunjee is also teething right now, so he's trying to chew my fingers every chance he can. i'll try your method everytime he tries to chew on my fingers when it's time to take his medication. then he'll think the bitter taste is due to his chewing... not because he's sick... hey, my pills were 20 bucks! not 8! boy do i feel ripped off. |

| I put Pippas in a bit of cheese spread and put it on the roof of her mouth. By the time shes managed to suck it all off the tablet has gone.

| I have this problem as well. Both of mine are able to find the TINIEST pill! One choice is to grinde it up and put it in a little wet food. This is what I do to get my Japanese Chin/Poodle mix to take his Benadryl....but don't even get me started on this....he eats all kinds of stuff off of the floor but then won't eat a grape flavored pill!!!!! Another great way is to use these little things that are made just for this problem. I think they are called Pill Pockets and they come in a green bag. They are essentially treats that are shaped kind of like a tiny little cup. You put the pill in there and pinch the top part closed and they never even notice. I definitely recommend these things! Good luck!

| I put a little butter on the pill - just to help it slide down easier. Then I open my dog's mouth and put it as far back as possible. Then I take my finger and push it even further back. If I can get the pill far enough back in his throat - his gag reflex takes over and he swallows it. This usually works quickly and easily for me. I had to give my cat pills once - and I actually put it back in her throat and then quickly took the eraser end of a pencil and pushed it even further back. She always swallowed it. Doesn't your vet always amaze you. They just take a pill - put it someplace in the dog's mouth - and in less than a second - it's gone! I am sure that practice makes perfect. They have it down to a science. Carol Jean |

| Maddie is impossible to give pills too, so I found a way that works well. I get those gerber baby chicken fingers and just take about 1/4 to 1/3 of one of them and push the pill into the middle and it's worked every time. She loves them! Good luck with your little one!

| I have an effortless method finally after fighting like tigers with mine for years. I just cut the pill in the proper size and give the dog a slurp of Nutristat and while they are still going yumm-yum, stick the pill in the end of the jel ad another squirt quickly follows the first and VOILA! Pill gone. Has worked every single time since I started doing it. Thank goodness..giving 10 dogs meds twice a day was an impossible task til that idea hit me!!! |

| I just tuck it inside of a small piece of cheese. She loves it. Good luck.
