| I know my girl has gotten bit by ants before and then licked until it got all irritated. Could Baby have gotten ant bites? |

| The photos look exactly like Daisy's irritation, and it was Staph. Not contagious, but she was prescribed an oral antibiotic, IIRC.

Just talked to someone else who said her puppy had a rash too..she uses Benadryl and cortisone cream...just better check dosage with your vet. I agree that your doctor would not have done surgery if he saw a staph infection where he was going to operate! Rashes are a difficult diagnosis on humans but are very difficult on dogs! Our dog doesn't seem to be irritated...he does a lot of scratching though. I guess yorkies have lots of skin irritations and allergies? Good luck. | |

| my lulu had a similar rash too during her first heat........she would lick and lick down by her foo foo. there was blood and salvia all over my apartment. then these brown like rashes appeared; i bought her to the vet and the vet gave some anti rash spray. she's ok now. =)

| The second picture is alot clearer. I think it is the same thing my Lacey had, but we never figured out exactly what it was. Hers would start where yours is and actually spread throughout her abdomen in places, but she didn't lick it or even seem to notice. Hers seemed to come through her pores and was like a black kind of tarry substance that didn't wash off with baths. Antibiotics, cortizone, nothing seemed to help - it seemed like it would go away in the winter and be worse in the summer months. I even tried dipping a Q-tip in alcohol and it didn't come off, but I could pick it off as it became heavier. She has passed away now, but it went on her entire life. |

| I agree that I think it could be allergies as well. Or maybe just dry itchy skin. If she is still itching it I would go ahead and give the vet a call. There are many things that they can do for skin allergies.
