The vet prescribed Childrens' Benedryl tablets. You might want to ask your vet about allergies and Benedry. The tablets get split in fourths, and the dosage would depend on your Yorkies size. This is just a guess though, and I am probably way off base as to what your furkids problem is. Please drop us a note and let us know what you found out. Good luck!

| ![]() Jazzie battled the itchies since she was 3 mo old. Everytime I took her to the vet he gave her cortizone shots and it stopped the itching immediately. But knowing cortizone is a steroid I got worried and took her to a veterinary dematologist and had her tested for allergies. Believe it or not she is allergic to (in order of most sensitive to less): 1. CATS!!! 2. Dust mites 3. Seasonal pollens So, out went all the carpet to eleminate the dust mites. Covered the beds with hypo-allergenic matress covers, and finally had to step up the cleaning and dusting including washing her bedding once a week. It really helped. She is now on Natural Balance Duck & Potato formula and I give her over the counter antihistamine (on the advice of the doctor) on higher wind days. She has been itch free for a while now.

It was awful - all she did was scratch. He told me to give her 1/4 of a tablet of Children's Benedry every 8 - 10 hrs., and it works. I don't think she has a bad case of allergies though. You may want to ask your vet about it, as the dosage depends on the weight of the dog. Please let us know how you made out at the vet appt.

| ![]() Raven use to itch like that alot too. The vet also prescribed childrens benadryl tablets (1/4 of a tablet). That worked really well. I also changed her food, she was eating Little Ceasers, now she eats Purina Healthy Benefits. Good Luck - Kim

| ![]() I use K-9 advantix, it treats fleas, ticks, and miscidoes. (don't think I spelled that right). but it sounds to me like it may be the shampoo that you are using. Or possibly even an allergy. What type of shampoo are you using? And what type of food are you using? I would ask the vet for a recomendation on the shampoo, and try that first. Also when you bathe him, make sure you water is not really warm. Just luke warm, almost cool. The water itself can make a huge difference! Their skin is very sensitive. Hope that this helps a little!
