| thoughts on when our pups are sick I recently went through a rough time with my 14 yr old baby Tedy. He has pneumonia. He also has stage 2b heart disease as well as a collapsing trachea. He spent 4 days in the Er, 3 of them were in an oxygen tent. I cannot tell you how many people(family, friends) told me I needed to put him down, that I was being selfish and he was suffering. Well I knew he had more time. I know my dog. I knew the way he looked at me. He wasn't ready for me to give up one him. It has been 4 days since he has been home and at this very moment he is barking at me because he wants to play. He has been running around like a maniac acting like a puppy. At his follow up appointment the vet said he recovered from pneumonia and with his meds for the other issues there is no reason that he can't have a good quality of life and could live for for quite some time. I guess my point is, I know sometimes we turn to others for advice about when it is time to let go, but we as the people that love them the most are really the only ones that know. For every one who's pups are sick thoughts are with you and you will know when it is time to let go. Only listen to yourself and your pups. They will guide you |

I am glad to hear that Tedy has recovered, and wish you many happy, healthy days ahead. At the moment, Beau is also romping around for short bursts...however, I can tell from his gait that he is still experiencing some intermittent pain. We will be making an informed decision, with the help of our trusted vet, when he returns for his followup blood test.

| Our last yorkie lost most of her protein from genetic IBD so we rushed her to the University Of Minnesota. I had friends and my mother say put her down it is costing money and she was suffering. My husband and I knew in our hearts she had a will to fight to live and she did. She was ten years old when this happened but she survived . We had her for two and a half years longer and she had a wonderful life til the end. It is we who know our babies and do not listen to others. Of course we have to know the quality of life and when it is time to let them go. I still hear about the money we spent but it was well worth it and she was the happiest girl to get through this. Thank God your baby is doing better and I pray you have many wonder days. Susan |

| So Glad Teddy is feeling better. A friend of mine has saying about facing the reality we all hate to face with our little loves..... "Better one day early, than 2 weeks late." I have thought about that a lot. She is such a loving person. We EACH have to deal with this reality the way we need to deal with it. |

| I agree, we know our pups very well, and know when the time to say goodbye is here. All my babies have had to be put down when they were at the vet being treated and nothing more could be done for them, they were in pain and suffering, there was no choice, I had to let them go. I never had a pup home to make that decision. In all honesty I don't know if I could. I don't know if I could drive to the vet knowing I was going to end my babies life, I pray I am never faced with that decision.
