She's never been without a doggie companion and my husband and i have talked about getting a rescue adult dog about her size. I'm not sure about the best timing for that, but although I'm retired and home with her almost all of the time, there will be times eventually when she will be home alone. And we all know that's not a yorkie's favorite thing. Anyway, as you said, one day at time.

We received his paw prints and locks of his hair and she was really interested in smelling it all. I hope she understands that he's gone from this world; I'm pretty certain that she knew he was sick. On his last day at home she stood somewhat at a distance and sniffed him up and down and then backed away.

| Thinking about you ... how are you and Annabelle doing? You wrote, "...received his paw prints and locks of his hair." Our vet did the same for little Katy. I miss her so that have taken to having full conversations with those memorials. Our best to you and yours--KatysMom |

| First, I'd like to say I'm sorry. My male cat is going through the same thing right now. We did opt for the exploratory surgery and it did cost us eight something. Unfortunately for us our kitty has a large cancer, jammed packed with lymph nodes. The vet said even with chemo. that it was fatal. We opted not to do the chemo and while he definitely has gotten skinny, he doesn't seem to be in pain. As he's still eating and drinking and playing with his brother I'm not going to euthanize him. I would if I thought he was suffering. I'll pray for your little one and please, pray for my little kitty. It's very heartbreaking . Best wishes. |

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. YorkieTalk didn't let me know I had new messages. Each day gets a little bit easier. Thank you so much for your kind words. We are in the process of adopting a little dog that the vet had rescued the day I first got the results of Turner's ultrasound. They had to hold her there for 10 days to give her humans a chance to claim her--she was running free and had been hit by a car--and then she got kennel cough. She's taking her last dose of medicine for that and they are going to try to spay her today. They said, if so, we can pick her up tomorrow. We're excited to bring her home, though I don't like that her first memory of being here with us will be of pain. I read that when dogs get better from kennel cough they're carriers for a few weeks. They said they'd get back to me on the kennel cough. Someone who coordinates their adoptions already got back with me a couple of days ago and said he was told that once she takes her last dose of "antibiotics," she shouldn't be contagious. Maybe she didn't have a viral kind of kennel cough? I'm double checking because Annabelle hasn't been vaccinated for bordetella, though I read that sometimes older dogs build up immunity from small exposures. Fingers crossed. Never adopted an adult dog or rescue before. I've been reading up on how to introduce a new adult dog to your adult dog.

| EDIT: I didn't realize I had already answered your post. But here's another one. Quote:
I didn't realize I had more posts here. Thank you for your kind thoughts. I hope your kitty is feeling well today. I'd say that as long as he's still acting like himself and having a quality life, let him enjoy it. Turner would not have had that. Best wishes to you and your kitty.
