| Just a thought..... you've mentioned Karo syrup quite often but wouldn't Nutrical or Nutristat be better for him in keeping his blood sugar up? Did the vet mention either of those? I've heard that karo syrup is a good thing to have around in the case of an emergency and you didn't have Nutrical but I thought the Nutrical was better than syrup or sugar water. Any comments? And I'm so glad to hear that Bimmer is getting the medical attention he needs. He sure is a small baby. We got Tatum at 9 weeks and she weighed right under 1 lb. but we never had any medical problems. You're doing great in giving him all the special attention he needs. Be sure to keep us updated.

| 4:51 PM | Thursday Afternoon Bimmer has spent most of the day sleeping in his cage. Since I'm working from home, I've gotten him out every hour on the hour to see if he'll eat, drink, or pottie. Up until five minutes ago I had no luck with the eating part. Another member here suggested grinding up his hard food (that he's NEVER touched since I've had him) and seeing if he'd try that. To my surprise, he ate about 8 pieces in one sitting! I'm not sure if it's because he's feeling better or he was just curious. I'm not taking any chances, though. He's been getting 2 cc's of PediaLyte every hour and he's slowly coming around. His belly is a bit fuller from the ground up hard food and now he just seems content to lay down and relax. I can live with that. For what its worth, he's only shaken his head twice since we got back from the vet and both times it was for half the amount of time he usually does it. We could be seeing progress in this area as well. |

| You are doing such a good job at caring for your Brimmer. I'm glad to see he is eating some and taking the Pedialyte. He's a special baby and is lucky to have you!

| Yep, I am now VERY familiar with that feeling. I used to get so excited when he'd something and start getting my hopes up that we were finally making progress, only to have him not even want to sniff it the next day. However, I am happy to report that he just ate 12 more pieces of ground up hard food! |

| 8:37PM | Thursday Night I tell you what, folks. It's an all-you-can-eat buffett in our house tonight! Bimmer just enjoyed some more ground up hard food with a nice savory chicken sauce from IAMs on top. He seemed to enjoy it immensely. I'm not getting my hopes up or anything (yeah, right!), but this is an entirely different dog tonight. Sure, he's still content to lay about, but the difference is in his eyes. His little eyes are WIDE open and he's VERY alert to everything going on around him. He's eating small amounts, but at least he's eating. My wife and I agree that we haven't seen him this alert since last week, before all of this recent mess. I'm guessing his hydration played a major part in the goings-on lately. The little man is as medicated as a 70 year old, but he's starting to come around... slowly. Stay tuned... |

I am so glad he is getting some relief, and has only shook his head twice today. This is wonderful news Dad. Who cares if he looks like a hedge hog, he fights like a tiger. Way to go Bimmer! Keep drinking water. Bimmer's pic is adorable. Such a sweetie. I hope all of your posts just keep getting better and better. Thanks for the updates. Kate

| 2:00 PM | Friday Afternoon Just got back from the house and my little boy is almost back to his old self! He ate two helpings of the hard food, but I still gave him his water by syringe. For some reason, he still hasn't learned to drink from a plate or bowl. Overall, we've made HUGE strides over a 24 hour period. Bimmer wouldn't sit still in my lap and wanted to lick my face off.... just like he used to do. He's still shaking his head a little, but I'll give that a few days for his antibiotics to take over before I worry too much about it. I can't tell you all how much happier I am today knowing that my little man is back on his feet. When I get home, after work, I won't have to worry so much about him and, instead, just enjoy his presence. What a relief! |
