How is the little guy doing? |
I sure hope he starts eating soon, and he gets to feeling better as well. Been worried about him.. Hope to get more news soon. I'll say a little prayer. |
Just got back from lunch and Bimmer had pottied in his cage. It looked to be the meal he ate last night, so I have to get him eating something real soon. At lunch, he wasn't interested in chicken and rice, his normal dog food, Cesar's, nothing... I did go ahead and give him the Pepto and some more Nutrical, along with more syringe-fed sugar water. His eyes are wide open and he just seems tired. Hopefully he'll rest some more and be ready to eat a big meal when I get home. The vet thinks the antibiotic shouldn't be hurtung his tummy as much by later tonight. I'll keep you posted... Keep the ideas coming... I'm down to try anything at this point. |
I don't have anything to add, but want to let you know we all care about Bimmer, and you. I hope you are able to get some rest, and please let us know how he is doing. Did the vet take his temperature? |
I'll keep praying til the next update! Hopefully he'll be eating better by then... |
5:21 PM I left work early because I couldn't stand it any more. Tried to feed him when I got home and he wasn't interested. As my wife was making a grill cheese sandwich, his head popped up and he was licking his lips! I remembered someone on here reccomending putting a little cheese in his dog food to trick him into eating it, so that's what I did. To my suprise, he just ate about half of his normal sitting!!! Way to go Bimmer! I didn't push more food in front of him because he walked away from the original plate. He moaned a little bit, so I'm assuming his stomach is still a little messed up and I don't want to continue that problem. I'll try cheese and more dog food in a couple of hours after his tummy settles. I'm so proud of this little guy. I just know he's going to make it thanks to you all here! He's not out of the woods yet, but that cheesy Cesar's was certainly a step in the right direction and, honestly, I need ANY sign right now. Wish him luck! |
8:20 PM Bimmer was laying in my arms staring at me while I was singing. Off handedly, I said out loud to him "Please tell me you're going to be alright." I kid you not, he climbed out of his blanket and nestled under my chin. After a few minutes of that, he started moving around so I figured he had to go pottie. I took him to his pad in the kitchen floor and he walked off of it towards his eating area! I immediately rushed to get some more cheesy Cesar's (We call it "McDonald's" now :) ) out of the microwave and Bimmer went to town! He ate an entire sitting of food and then walked over to the couch where mommie was laying. He's there now taking another nap and we couldn't be happier. We haven't seen this much appetite or movement in FOUR days COMBINED!!! Things might be turning for the better, folks! I'll keep you updated as I have gotten plenty of private messages from you wanting to know how our little guy is getting along. We very much appreciate your thoughts! Who knows, my next update may well be about the little guy wanting to play again... Big ole smile on my face while writing this one!!! |
10:00 PM Bimmer woke up and went pottie. What was completely liquid diareah yesterday, is now semi-soft stool. He wasn't up for anymore Cesar's at the moment, but I suspect that his full belly might have something to do with that. :D Instead, he opted for four CC's of sugar water which he lapped up with his VERY pink tongue that was almost grey yesterday. He's now playing in mommie's hair and I couldn't be happier. What a difference a day makes! |
thats wonderful news!!! I'm so glad to hear he is feeling better!! I will keep praying for a complete recovery!!!! |
Great to hear Bimmer that you are getting better :wavey: :happyboun Great news to hear Bimmer is doing so much better, so glad the cheese idea worked for him, it has always been a friend to us in need when we had the problem with ours. We are looking forward to hearing that you are all well real soon Bimmer, our prayers for a quick :getwellso Big  to you Bimmer from Jack and myself. |
Hot dog! This is fantastic news. I hope each hour he keeps getting better. Thanks for keeping up posted. |
1:15 PM This morning I think I woke Bimmer up from a nice slumber because he was groggier than usual. I gave him his sugar water, nutrical, and vitamin drops and stuck some food in his cage, but he wasn't interested. "No big deal" I thought, "as long as he eats lunch I'll be happy." I returned home for lunch praying that he'd eaten, but he was asleep again and his food was untouched. I gave him all the same treatments as in the morning and then gave him a small piece of cheese to see if he was interested in it at all. He sprung to life and tried to jump out of my arms, so I hurriedly fixed him an extra large batch of cheesy Cesar's while he went nuts. Needless to say, he cleaned his plate... even licked it dry! He's asleep now and I'm back at work feeling MUCH better about leaving him alone right now. Slowly but surely, I think we're making progress. He still sleeps more than I care for him to, but as long as he eats and keeps his sugar up, he can do whatever he wants until he feels back to his old self. EDIT: I almost forgot! He went pottie this morning and his stool is much harder than last night. |
8:15 PM Bimmer still hasn't eaten since lunch. He's still VERY lethargic, but he's not nearly as out of it as he was a couple days ago. When I got home I put him on the floor and forced him to walk to me from points all over the room. My reasoning on this is that if he lays around in our arms all day, his muscles will atrophy and we'll have a whole other set of problems to address. I feel he needs to get some exercise even if he isn't feeling that great. Does this sound good? Also, he started feeling bad on Thursday of last week and hit his low point Sunday night. That's four days to bottom out. Does that mean I'm expecting too much if I want to see him close to his old self in two days? What about four or eight? How long should I wait for him to bounce back before I assume he's not getting better? We're on day two right now and he's awake in my arms just being lethargic. He moves his head quite often and repositions himself by tucking his head into the fetal position. It looks very comfortable. So, what say you wise folks of YT? Where do you think we're at right now and how far until he'll be back at around, say... 90%? I'd say we were at 30% on Sunday night and we're at about 65% now in two days. By my math, that means he should be bouncing around like normal by the weekend. What if he isn't? What would you do with a 10oz. baby Yorkie at 10 weeks old? Also, someone asked earlier what his temp was. I can tell you that on Sunday (his low point), his temperature was 101.46 degrees. |
Please take Bimmer to a different vet soon I just read your post and you say Bimmer is only 10 ounces and is only 10 weeks of age? I definately would take him to a new vet ASAP I would not hesitate on doing that. I didn't know he is only 10 weeks old and oh my goodness he is so tiny, I would have told you this before had I known his age and weight. Sure hope he is going to pull out of this. I know you and your wife are giving him your best but to me in my opinion he really needs to to be evaluated by a different Vet. Please do get another Vet to check him out. He's been seen by three different vets and our normal vet seems to be the only one who can properly diagnose anything. He correctly figured that the antibiotic the other vet gave Bimmer was upsetting his stomach. He also couldn't understand why they gave him an antibiotic to begin with. I trust my regular vet FAR more than the others. That having been said, Bimmer is so small because he is a "teacup". I know that isn't popular around here with some people, but that's the reason he's so small. This morning I woke him up and brought him to my bed to lay with me for half an hour before I had to get ready for work. This has become a tradition. :) He was almost his normal self as far as alertness goes, but he still didn't want to eat anything. I'm sure he'll have a big lunch like yesterday. Right now he's just been slow to go back to eating all day long which requires special attention paid to maintaining his sugar level throughout the day until I get him back on his regular schedule. Hey, this morning was a little better than last, so that's improvement! |
