| Need help with my Yorkie Crosby is 3 he is about 4.4 lb we have him a month now but ever since we got him he has been having seizures like once a week or few days longer. blood work showed nothing so Vet put him on meds we started this Sunday and last night he had another episode still pretty long but less intense than the other 3. i read the phenobarbital will take a week or two before having any effect. he is also on the Green bag Rachel Ray food( thinking about switching any suggestions??)... any suggestions on the seizures the meds? was going to get him MRI but do not have 2,200-3,500$$. and no history on previous episodes (got him due to the previous owners had bigger dog and baby and that couldn't handle his marking in the house, never seen him have a seizure)... i did some googling but others experience is always helpful.. I m worried and wanted advice... we really love him he made our family life complete... |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hi and welcome. It's very odd the previous owners said they never saw a seizure...? I'm not sure I really believe them, I guess? Who knows. But, if the phenobarb helps - it's an easy fix for seizures. It may make him very tired at first - don't sweat that stage - that will get better. The important thing is to find a med that stops those seizures. Some wonderful kibbles: Natures Logic Venison, Solid Gold Wee Bits, Natures Variety Raw Boost, Wellness Core...

| UPDATE ON CROSBY so due to Crosby still having Seizures he have been put on additional on Potassium Bromide... and was doing well(before additional medicine last seizure 3/19, 2x 3/20, 3/21) and now he just had one short about 3 min or less 4/9 so he is doing well since adding Bromide... he is acting weird towards others since starting the meds, growling and barking at everyone. he was in a house with another dog now he barks at other dogs its weird but hopefully it will pass... NEED HELP ON JOINT SUPPLEMENTS supposedly he has weak muscle condition in one his knees which is easy to pop out of place and needs joint supplement any recommendation? Vet said GlycoFlax? (Crosby is only 3 years old) |

| Update on Crosby well here is a update on Crosby. A week ago we have finally found the cause of his seizures. On a good note it's not an epilepsy but it's worst in my opinion and I am really worried about the little guy. He has a liver shunt and his seizure medicine was changed he was put on more medication too. Here is his story in detail but if you have anymore questions feel free to ask. Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh gosh, more complicated issues than you were hoping for...but at least you now know how to fix it. Is liver shunt surgery planned then...? As for the knee, what grade is the Luxating Patella? Is it in both knees?

| yes at least we know what it is and try to fix it now. no not yet need a consultation and more test but UF is 2hrs away and just for that they want a lot of money we don't have right now. i was told by support group to put up fundraiser page but it's not really working no one is sharing so we just have to do the meds until we save it up... i believe its only in one front left and i think its lvl 1 or 2 |

| I will not surrender him I will not do this to him like his previous owners. I got denied care credit I made a fundraiser like I was advised by liver shunt support group members even though I feel embarrassed about asking for help, but we are not getting many shares either. I am also looking into other options and trying to work overtime if there is any. |
