| Help my cousin's dog, internal bleeding I'm sorry this isn't about a yorkie, but I'm extremely worried, she's my cousin's baby and it'll crush her if something happens. She's an american eskimo, 10 years old, spayed, healthy before this but is overweight and has anxiety issues. There are 2 other dogs in the house, an 8 year old eskimo, and a westie puppy. Tuesday- dark liquidy stool Wednesday- she passed out, took her to the ER vet, has blood in her stool, high WBC, low RBC & anemic, did an ultrasound, it was clear, gave her a transfusion and sent her home They're thinking it's an ulcer or cancer, they were going to treat it like an ulcer since the ultrasound was clear. She was at the ER most of yesterday. Thursday- found a trail of blood from her rectum, lethargic, not eating or drinking, taking her back to the ER |

| I know it is very stressful when there is a sick dog, no matter what breed. I can't offer any advise but keep seeking excellent veterinary care.

| Thanks She perked up a bit when my cousin came home, the vet is giving them an antinausea injection to give her instead of bringing her in because they're trying to minimize her stress. I don't see how that's going to help the bleeding... |

| Ask the vet about some barium as it helps coat the intestines to give it a chance to recover. |

She's also on metronidazole (antibiotic) and omeprazole. The anti nausea medicine is cerenia, it's to help keep the others down. | |

| She slept most of the day and isn't eating, but she also hadn't bled anymore so that's great. We're hoping it really is just an ulcer and the meds work. |

| Thank you Kira is doing very well today, she ate a bit, asked for food, asked to go outside to pee, and she barked and greeted me when I went over. She even put her paws on tge table to get my cousin's toast. She looks really good. The only thing she hasn't done yet is poop. |

| So glad she's on the mend. I can't help but kind of giggle at dog people in general. Who else would post about poop but serious dog lovers? Best wishes for Kira's continued recovery! |
