Help my cousin's dog, internal bleeding

Thanks everyone, sorry I haven't updated sooner, things have been crazy.

Kira has been eating (chicken, rice, and chicken baby food for her meds) and pooping, but it's been black.
She went to the regular vet, they did a CBC, her WBC is high and RBC is dropping again. They called the ER vet but haven't heard back.

The ER vet had wanted to do an endoscopy, but my cousin is trying to avoid if if possible because the last time she went under for a dental the horrible vet ODed her and she nearly died, the ER vet saved her. I'm guessing they're going to suggest it again.

My poor cousin is so heartbroken.

This has to be so stressful on your cousin and her American eskimo older dog. First she was sick and having problems then it looked she was doing better and we were all so happy for Kira and now things are back to being bad. What a roller coaster this is for your cousin and her beloved dog. I am so sorry and I hope with all my heart this gets straightened out. This is the 3rd year in a row something has happened to poor Kira. First the vet ODed her during a dental, then the tip of her tail was stepped on and broke, and now this.

They're repeating the CBC on Thursday and will go from there. I told them I'd do the endoscopy if her RBC drops again.

Kira's RBC is up a bit but still kinda low, hopefully this means she's healing.

We're very relieved.

we really thought Kira was ok, she's been acting normal, eating, and pooping normally, but her blood dropped again.

It was 20, then 25, and now it's 18.

We don't know what to do.

They took her to our regular vet today, he doesn't know what's going on so he's sending her to a specialist.

Kira died yesterday.
She ended up having 2 blood transfusions and her blood was extremely low again yesterday. They had been treating her with a high dose of steroids and antibiotics, but it didn't help. We don't know what was wrong with her.

My cousin is heartbroken and to make things worse she's the second dog they've lost in 5 months. The other dog was 14 and had cancer in her spinal cord.

OMG! Took my breath away, like a solid hit in the gut would do....I was hoping she was getting better, was just coming on to read and catch up and then to suggest taking her to a vet school for treatment....I am so sorry for your cousin.....hopefully, they will get an autopsy so they can see what in the world was wrong. I could not go the rest of my life wondering what in the world had happened to my baby.....

I'm so sorry. This whole thing has been so heartbreaking. And this is their second loss so soon. What a terrible tragedy. My heart goes out to them.

Thanks everyone, this is truely the worst part about having dogs.
I'm just glad my cousin has her mom's puppy to help her through this, nothing heals like puppy love.

I thought everything was ok after the second transfusion, she went down very quickly. I think the second transfusion was a week ago.
She's been eating, barking, and pooping normally, the only real symptoms were right before the transfusions when she was tired and out of breath.

I tried to get her to be more agressive in her treatment, like doing the endoscopy to see what was going on, but she was so afraid of her dying on the table (she nearly did 2 years ago during a dental, the vet ODed her). It also seemed like the steroids and antibiotic were helping, and the vet increased them after the second transfusion.
I don't remember if they went to the specialist or not, it's been a very crazy month. On top of the Kira problems I've been having major car problems.

She's not doing an autopsy, she couldn't bare the thought. I wish we knew what happened because she's blameing herself.

That is heart wrenching to hear and a swift kick in the gut as Yorkiemom said. I am so sorry this happened and so soon after losing her other one to cancer too. This has to be devastating for her. I just wish my words could do more for her.

The other dog was my aunt's, but they live in the same house. Kira was my cousin's first dog that was *her's*.

I am so incredibly sorry to hear that, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your cousin. Eskies are such pretty dogs.
