| ![]() The vet gave him Drontal. There are 2 meds that vets typically give and I chose that one. Here is my thread about Max and his icky tapeworm: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...tapeworms.html As others have commented, eating a flea is usually the cause. We didn't have any sign of fleas, so must have ingested one outside on our walks.

| ![]() If you show a picture to your vet, you may be able to avoid a vet visit. I would just call and ask if you can get something for it...they may be willing to give you something as long as you are up to date on regular visits.

| ![]() Our cat never had fleas, but she came down with tapeworms once. She is a mouser, so the vet figured that she must have eaten a mouse that had an infected flea on it. She used to hide dead mice under the furniture, and we'd find those mummified mice right next to her toy mice. |

| ![]() She was in for a dental when it was found. My vet kept it because she thought I would not believe that it was a tapeworm...LOL .. I told her I did not need to see it! gross .. But, even she was surprised...who knows???

| ![]() You will have to take him to the vet, my pup was full of large ones and it took two treatments from the vet. Make sure you dont waste your money trying to get rid of them yourself because it just doesnt work. It is much cheaper in the long run to have the vet give you the good stuff.

| ![]() The newer Sentinel Spectrum has tapeworm preventive in it. Sentinel Spectrum is a Heart worm preventive that also covers I believe 6 different types of worms and now has the added tape worm preventive in it.
