| ![]() The surgical nurse just called, he's under and they are working on the right one now and said that now that they're in there his crucial ligament is torn as well, they needed my permission to fix that as well. I guess that's more involved and of course more money. I told them to do what ever they have to do. UGH! my stomach is in knots. Thanks all for your thoughts. |

| ![]() Gigi, everything I'm reading online says that the total knee replacement involves removing the meniscus and the cranial and caudal cruciate ligaments. From this source: http://surgery.anzcvs.org.au/surgery...re%20Liska.pdf "TKR is a menisci plus cranial and caudal cruciate sacrificing procedure so removal of a potential cause of postoperative complications (menisci injury) and an apparent inflammatory mediator (CCL) are eradicated." (This sentence starts at the bottom of page 2 and continues on to page 3). I would get some clarification on why it's being "repaired" if I were you.

| ![]() We're praying. Let us know the moment it's over and hang in there. You aren't alone in spirit - we're here. Hugs. P. S. What is it about the profile of a Yorkie's face that just rips my heart out every time I see one? I look at Tibbe lying in his big den window looking out at his world and my heart just melts and I don't know why I almost choke up. He looks so little and vulnerable there outlined against the world. Takes me back to when my little Jilly used to lie there in that same spot on her pillow and I'd just sit here by the minute and watch her in profile and wish I could keep her forever.

| ![]() Ok, just got the call, surgery is over. The left knee had the torn ccl too. He explained further that what they do is take out the damaged part and then use thick nylon suture to repair and then the scar tissue that grows around it acts like a replaced ligament. Recovery will be a bit longer. 6 weeks of strict cage rest. 4-5 months until full recovery. They're gonna show me the 3x a day physical therapy tomorrow. Glad it's over. |

| ![]() I'm so relieved that Sully's surgery is completed. I know this is heartbreaking for you, knowing your precious boy has gone through all of this. But you have given him a chance to have a great life with no physical limitations. I hope one day you can post a video of Sully running and playing. I will continue to think of and pray for you and Sully. |

I do hope that you continue to update us on his progress. I don't recall anyone here that ever had total knee replacement on their dog, so anything you could document here would be very useful to someone else that might go through this in the future. Hurdle one is out of the way, next hurdle will be to bring Sully home!

| ![]() The hospital sent me this pic of Sully in his "hospital bed" all snuggle and warm on a warming blanket. They said I could call anytime during the night to check on him. They are really so nice at this place. I feel like I can breathe a little. Thanks to all of you again, I really appreciate the support. |
