| Couver is not doing well... Over a week ago, I woke up to the sound of Couver vomiting. He proceeded to vomit many more times and I took him into the vet when they opened up. He spent the day there and he not vomited all day while at the vet. He received an anti-nausea injection and subq fluids. I brought him home and I could tell he still was not feeling well, but he was not puking. The next day, I came home from work to find he had really bad diarrhea and had a couple of accidents in the house. His poo was like black tar. I took it into the vet and had them do a fecal and a giardia test. All of the tests came back negative. After this I started him on a bland diet of pumpkin, rice and chicken. His poo is firmer, but still very runny. I can hear his stomach sounds and can tell he is in pain with his belly aching. He hadn't puked for a week, but yesterday he puked up some yellow bile. I just want to figure out what is wrong and nothing seems to be working to help him. Poor guy is not himself and I need to figure out what to do to make him better. I am debating whether I need to take him to the vet again today... He just hates it so much there and I don't like seeing him stressed out.

| I am so sorry that Couver is not feeling well. With the poo looking like black tar that sounds like blood in his system. I am assuming they did full blood work on him? Sounds like also maybe possible pancreatitis ??? Sending prayers that Couver will be feeling better soon.

| Poor Couver and you. I am very sorry to hear he is sick. I agree with Vicki, has pancreatitis been ruled out? Is it the cPL blood test? Also, does Couver normally do well with pumpkin? For my Teddy, tt makes diarrhea worse. I would try leaving it out. Just feed chicken and rice and see if that helps firm things up. Sending positive thoughts for your little boy.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh no - poor Couver !! I'm so sorry to hear he's feeling poorly. And how frustrating to not really know why. Hopefully, this is just some sort of passing gastritis...but it is concerning that the poos were so dark...that can indicate blood higher up in the system, but it doesn't mean that for sure. I too would be wondering about pancreatitis, IBD/IBS. One thing about that darn Giardia is that it's notorious for hiding under scope...when Marcel had it as a puppy, they had to test THREE times before they could actually find it! So I wouldn't quite totally cross that off your list yet...keep it in the back of your mind maybe. Maybe try calling the vet and asking if there is something they could prescribe for his tummy rumbles..? Hugs to you both!

| Poor baby. I would call the vet and see what they recommend. Also see if they recommend a food. Rosie has tummy issues and when it flares up she uses Science Diet ID. I know many are not fans of SD but this prescription food works for Rosie. Hope he feels better soon.

| Yes he should go back to the vet. I would withhold food for 12 hr then feed a tiny very bland meal of half white chicken and half sweet potato. If he holds it down feed another couple of small meals the same way. Is he on cerenia, pepcid, metronidazole? If not he may need these added for a week or two.

| Poor Couver - sounds like it's time for some testing to find out what is going on. I'll be praying the vet can get to the bottom of this and set him on the path to recovery. This sounds like Tibbe after he got to be 3 1/2 - 4 years old - had that nausea, spitting up bile, loud bowel sounds, eventual loose stools/diarrhea, etc., and we had almost a year of problems with this every so often until Crystal(EllieMay) suggested that even though his routine liver studies were all normal, and even a CPL snap test, a bile acids test should be done. It was and was abnormal and further testing suggested he likely had MVD, a dysfunctional liver, and he was begun on a special diet, one that keeps his GI system feeling fine except for 3 or so bouts of trouble a year when he accidentally eats something he shouldn't off the floor or outside that he shouldn't. I'll be praying it's something easily helped and that little Couver is better very soon.

| I am sorry to hear Couver isn't feeling well. Bentley had the most foul smelling runny poop and the vet put him on Prescription Science Diet Z/D and he is doing very well on it. I pray your vet will get diagnose what is the cause of this for Couver. Please keep us updated as you are able.

| So sorry he is having tummy issues. I too think he might be better off for a while on a Prescription diet. Like Kristin said, pumpkin can sometimes make things worse, (it does in my Tiki). As far as chicken and rice, make sure it's white rice, not brown, and overcook it so it is extra soft. Cook it in the chicken broth, and maybe cut back on the amount of chicken and give more rice. Small meals and fewer of them will help with bowel rest. Hope he feels better soon. It seems to take my Tiki about a week to 10 days to get normal after eating something wrong (she also has suspected mild MVD).

YT 2000 Club Member | dog Sounds like what my spud just went through. It is pancreatitis. Vet put him on cerenia for nausea and a half pill of pepcid. Put him on prednisolone. Diet was quinoa and baked tillapia. Finally he got better vet has him totally on hills diet zd. He is so much better but stays on zd. Too much fat in a dog diet can cause this. Spud ate only high quality wellness food but I did give him bites of Costco chicken. I hear it is fatty. I pray cover will get better. He needs a bland diet to help his tummy. Hope this helps. |

| Oh no, sorry to hear Couver is not feeling well. I know you are doing everything possible for him. It sounds very similar to what we went through a few months back with Mylee.
