YT welcomes differing opinions and discussion, but we need to be giving them without attacking one another. Stop the personal attacks and name calling!

My apologies. The snooty line I gave came quite a bit after being called irresponsible and a liar. Just thought I'd point that out.

One of the problems with home remedies is there is no testing done on them to see what they can do to the dogs body or if they can cause problems that don't pop up until the future. Maybe the op will ask their vet about the method you suggested and see what they think.
I will try to keep that in mind. I would love for others to keep in mind, as well, that just because someone is new HERE, it doesn't make them ignorant, or like they should be treated lesser. That is a shameful practice in all places in life, IMO.

My last foster had at least fifteen small patches and I was able to clear it with the solution described above within two months, doing treating baths every week.

I see you skirt around this by saying personally....THIS IS A SMALL DOG, not your foster.......You are inferring to OP to NOT follow the vets prescribed treatment, the vet who examined this pup and prescribed a treatment that is known to work. Waiting for it to get out of control NOT GOOD

The vet did NOT prescribe dips, did he?

I inferred NOTHING. I suggested looking into something else. AGAIN, asked once already..do I REALLY have to spell every detail out when giving advice? Do I really NEED to say "but check with your vet" EVERY time? Is this the land of ZERO common sense? Because if it is, I can talk to everyone like adolescents. I may be able to find a crayon font to make it easier.

You women (yeah...I KNOW you are women) are ridiculous.

Yes you did. There are many people here with little or no experience, I wouldn't call them anything but inexperienced. Common sense for you and I as experienced owners was acquired. Yes, checking with the vet whenever giving alternate advice is good, advising to get a second opinion great, but telling an already fearful newbie to reconsider the vets advice is not good. You definitely inferred and implied it. See the red highlighted notes I made in a previous post that you have disregarded.

DEAR OP,
I beg you to get a second opinion before dismissing what your experienced vet prescribed. I would even suggest a vet dermatologist. But please do not rely on just the homeopathic remedy. I've seen many many many pups here and at the shelter suffer miserably because of inadequate care, please for you and Boogies sake please yield to proven remedies and perhaps you could certainly use the homeopathic remedy WITH your vets AFTER you get the ok.

What medicated shampoo did he prescribe?

OP...I apologize sincerely if you think I was saying to not talk this over with your vet. I assumed this was a given, so I apologize.

As for the other two in this post that just want to nag and insult, good job making one feel welcome. Good news is, I have a thick skin and more of a brain than either of you want to give me credit for. I look forward to our future head-bumping. Should be a blast.

You women (yeah...I KNOW you are women) are ridiculous.
Now just HOLD ON a minute and please take a breath.

In one post, you're claiming it's shameful to treat others as "lesser"....in the next post you go on to say "you women are ridiculous".

You can't have both ways, I'm afraid. You either believe in being respectful and act accordingly, or you don't and instead call people ridiculous.

Either way, let's refrain from calling people ridiculous here.

I absolutely will refrain from calling people ridiculous, as soon as they refrain from calling me irresponsible and insinuating I'm a liar when knowing precisely nothing about me. I was NOT the first to throw out insults.

Some of you may need to take note: I am not going anywhere, and I am not some pushover who is new to forums. You push, I push back. I WILL respect you, IF you respect me. That is not given freely.

Who cares who did what first, honestly? It was your choice to jump in and add fuel to the fire you interpreted as present. Instead, why not be the last one to throw out an insult, what's wrong with that?

Glad you're sticking around, that's great...I don't see anyone asking you to leave. I am one who actually does give out free respect, so you have mine for now. And even if I stop respecting you, I'll still treat you w/ respect.

There are some awesome people here, so keep an open mind, look around, and you just might find you like some of us.

To the first highlight, you maybe right, I just don't want to go back through this thread to determine this. If it even could be determined

I think that respect as a person needs to be given freely and not "earned", it can be lost as a person, but you start off respecting every-one as the human beings they are.

For want of a better term, a "deeper respect" is indeed earned. And earned in different areas of your life. How that deeper respect is "earned" is of course up to the individuals values and benefits.

If there were any side effects from the meds you would have already seen them and the effects of mange are more dangerous if untreated than any med. It took chachi about 5 dips before he was mite free but again his case sounds alot worse than yours

He looks normal this morning. He ate a lot and pooped after 5 mins. Everything looks okay so I'm hoping that he has no allergic reactions on the ivomec.

He has 5 more remaining shots for 5 weeks. Im hoping he'll be okay after that

I had several articles that specifically pointed out it is NOT a genetic /hereditary issue, all dogs have this mite, and it is when the immune system is slow to develop or is immature that the mite takes over....... and the article also encourages a completely grain free diet. This article indicated a female that is suffering from this issue, can used for breeding if treated with strict diet control....treat her for a year and then she will be able to be used for breeding again with no problems for her or the puppies. Meds that boost the immune system, along with the grain free diet, for one year, will correct the issue in the breeding female and she will have litters that do not have the issue. I put this to test, as I did have a female that had a minor case of this.....she had 3 litters with no problems at all, then her 4th litter, out of 5 babies, she had 1 male that had the problem. While it was considered localized on the male puppy, it was significantly more involved than with the momma. We did the Ivermectin shots, I gave him Ivermectin by mouth along with immune booster herbs, and when the meds were stopped because the symptoms had disappeared, the rash returned. I converted both momma and (adult) baby to grain free diets and a year later, both were asymptomatic. I have not bred that female again....dont know if I will.....she was very expensive and has a fabulous pedigree. I was told by people that are experts in this, that the male could be used for stud because the mite is passed from the momma to each puppy.....males are not around the puppies to transmit the mite. The jury is still out as to whether I will breed the female......I hate to loose this great line and out of 17 puppies, she only had one that suffered from the issue.....and he is a gorgeous dog that would throw gorgeous babies. Since the issue is cured in both these dogs now, I have been reassured litters produced by either dog would be fine. I am still overly cautious....rather safe than sorry. (I will say I never did use the dip on either of these dogs.....I was cautioned about the toxic effects of that dip and advised to use it ONLY if the situation was deteriorating out of control.)

Hi! What immune boosters are you giving specifically? I also read an article that the ivermectin would only kill existing mites but would not prevent them. Im now looking for an immune system booster. Any suggestions on this? Also, I'm currently feeding him with Royal Canin for yorkies, would this be okay? What specific diet did you give to your yorkie with demodex?
