| male yorkie red sores Folliculitis? Hello YorkieTalk! So I have two 4-5 year old males Yorkies. I adopted them a year or two ago. They where homeless as far as I know for a while. The one male is at 100% now, he had some issue with his testicles but the vet took care of that when I got them both neutered. But that was after many months of flea care. With the help of the vet we took care of all the fleas. One yorkie got it worse than the other, the vet thought he might have had a allergic reaction. Now, he is loosing his fur and being covered in red sores. There has been no change in his mood. He scratching himself a lot of the time. His skin colour has changed from a dark blackish colour in some places. It seems to have started at the base of his tail. It has spread from there over his back and is getting worse! I am sure it is Folliculitis, my last vat did not seem to look at him much. I have changed vet now and I have him booked in. I would like to know what you guys think! Sorry for the image there was a 200kb limit hope you guys can make it out! Thanks guys. |

| I just answered another persons post in the General Fourm asking if their dog had been tested for Sebaceous Adenitis. This is very severe form of skin inflamatiom. Here is some information on it. Inflammatory Skin Disease in Dogs | petMD

| TxVicki is right but it could also be other skin conditions secondary or primary infections as well. You will save a lot of money and a lot of stress for both you and your pup if you go straight to a vet dermatologist, please. Presently that looks as though antibiotics are in order. A vet derm will take a scraping of this and treat the acute problem at hand. Please get this boy to a derm. Good luck and keep us posted.

| Coconut oil works great for skin problems like that.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh my gosh - SO glad you are getting him in right away bc this issue is definitely progressing. It could be pyoderma, which is a staph infection in dogs. It's treated w/ Simplicef x 30 days. If he is itching all the time, he probably has allergies...does he also chew/lick his paws?
