| colitis was the culprit! Whew. Totally fixable and he's doing great. The vet was AMAZING also and only charged me $170 for all exams, tests, and meds. And gave me her cell phone number to call if anything scares me over the weekend lol Thank goodness for good people Thanks everyone! Winston is already back to his smiling self ! |

| Thank goodness Winston is ok !! I hate HGE, it's so scary It's so sudden and if you don't recognize the symptoms it can be fatal within 24 hours without immediate, aggressive treatment to avoid fatalities. HGE is the leaking of blood and proteins into a dog's digestive tract. The symptoms include (possible vomiting) and bloody diarrhea. that looks like raspberry jam. (sorry to be so graphic) The exact cause isn't known. The dog quickly goes into shock, becomes dehydrated and can die without prompt treatment. About 10% of dogs who survive HGE have one or more re-occurences during their life, Most owners fail to realize how severe this is and don't get their dogs treatment in time. Again, I'm so very sorry about your Gina, Cherrie. I've seen so many dogs pass away with this horrible disease. |

| Somehow I missed this post. I am so sorry about your Gina. Hopefully one day you will rid yourself of that guilt. It sounds to me like you did all you could. HGE and pancreatitis are both horrible and pups can die quickly from them...even if addressed immediately. Sometimes the symptoms at the beginning are vague.
