I didn't sleep well last night and every time I woke up I thought go little Piper. Last night when we went to bed I put Zoey in my lap and put her two paws together and we said a prayer for Piper's recovery.

Piper is always in my thoughts. The photo yesterday just broke my heart--what a sweet little innocent thing. There are many YT doggies getting extra love every day now because of dear Piper. Hoping today brings a magical recovery.

I remember years ago a member's husband feeding BBQ sauce to 2 of their dogs I believe that it had xylitol without her realizing. That's why I asked my question yesterday. Just throwing things out there. It sounds like Piper is really fighting and she continues to be in my prayers

The human food she had the day before this was biscuits and milk gravy. Table food is now not allowed to any of my dogs. This may not have been the cause. But, gonna make sure it never will be in question again.

Biscuits and gravy could put a strain on the liver. I'm glad you're forbidding that now, and glad that Piper is beginning to recover!

I remember that! Xylitol is one of the reasons I worry about ice cream and other things that people treat their dogs to every once in awhile. You never know with processed foods and condiments, or leftovers from a restaurant, what ingredients might be in them.

God is indeed good and I'm so glad her glucose is up. She's no doubt fighting as hard as she can so let's pray that glucose stays good while she's on her own and shows she's getting through this whatever-it-was that hit her so hard. I imagine it was that human food as I've had two Yorkies that just could not tolerate it after a certain point in their lives and as I said, a piece of ham almost killed my late Jilly and the vet began talking about us having to consider her "quality of life" when she had been down for days and getting worse. She was just a little older than Piper at that time by a month or two I think but Tibbe was 4 1/2 - 5 years before I had to take him off all human food due to how sick the tiniest portion of bread, milk-product, meat or veggie made him w/in a day - day and a half. I think I remember reading on YT within the last 18 mos. when longer-time members were remembering back that there was a member whose dh gave her dog a single pea that subsequently triggered a disaster for the dog.

Still, Piper could have maybe gotten in to a deposit of some other toxin or pathogen and you'll never know what it was. Life as a dogowner can be a rollercoaster ride. I'm praying for Piper several times a day as she comes into my thoughts and so hoping for that day she's in the clear from this. Give her a tiny kiss for us if you can and stay courageous and hopeful.

Jeanie and Tibbe, thank you for your prayers. I will be going to visit her this afternoon after work. I will give her lots of kisses, most from mommy and daddy, but I will let her know that the next set is from all of ya'll.

Blood sugar has held steady since last night. The will be taking her off the dextrose to see if it holds over night. But, her enzyme levels are up again. But, if we can keep her blood sugar up, she will get to come home in the next couple days and we will treat her with anti-biotics and a special diet. So keep praying. It's not over yet.

Oh forgot, She is being very vocal today. And eating very well.
