![]() Thank you Lynzy for the recommendation. We do have some great opthamologists here but it's always great to have options. I'm finding Sprite's vision impairment very confusing. Last night we were throwing her little toy indoors and she would chase it like always but then couldn't find it right under her nose. This morning I did this little test I read online about dropping cotton balls and then observing her ability to track them. She had no trouble at all...just zoomed right in. In fact she tried to eat one before I could get it, that's how quick she was. She didn't like it by the way and spat it out, thank goodness. She also was moving around fine inside and outside this morning and did fine on the stairs. So she clearly has some sight, at least in bright light. At dusk or dark, she really looks completely blind. The opthamologist recommended a great book "living with blind dogs" by Carol Levins and I've got it on order. So I find myself being strong one minute and then crying the next. My husband and daughter's keep telling me that she'll be fine and adapt and she does look pretty happy, but I worry for her. I think I need to do what good Yorkie mama's do when they're upset.....slip out for a bit and do a little retail therapy for Sprite ![]()

| ![]() I had a foster several years ago that was blind from cataracts. He would walk the walls and occasionally bump into things but overall he did adapt well over time. I did make the mistake of moving the furniture around and that was not a wise choice. He was a much older senior so his situation was different than Sprite.

![]() Thanks for the sharing and tips Ladyjane and Megansmomma. We're keeping her in familiar areas to help her. We've replaced all the light bulbs so that things are as well lit as possible and we keep extra lights on for her. I'm dreading our next hydro bill....if you live in Ontario you know what I mean! We'll keep the furniture in the same place...glad I like it there, but at the moment we're finishing the basement and having deliveries all week, so our living room looks like a warehouse. We'll get that out of the way by the end of the weekend so everything is back to normal. I'm starting to teach her some new commands, wait etc that could help with safety issues down the road. I do think she'll be fine, and I'll get there too. We still have her with us and she seems very content so there's lot's to be happy about!

![]() I'll try again! Is anyone else having problems posting? Every time I hit submit reply my screen goes blank and I loose all data. It's happened 3times since yesterday. Sprite is doing very well. She developed a small ulcer from the prednisone but we've reduced the dosage and after several days of Pepcid AC she's doing much better. She's off Keppra completely but still takes phenobarbital and omeprazole. She's adjusting to the visual impairment and is getting around pretty well and playing with her toys. She looks a little scruffy right now and can finally have a bath at the end of the month....hooray! I'll try to get some pics of her outside today so you can see hoe she's doing. Our neurologist has moved and we should be getting a replacement in September. Hopefully all will be well till then. Thank you all again for the amazing support. It really does make a huge difference for our family ![]()

Great news! Thank you for keeping us posted....It is so nice when people go the distance and the end result....priceless! When you sign in and put your password - BEFORE you hit enter, check the box that reads " keep me signed in " and your problem will be avoided, it happens to me when I don't check that box!

![]() Lynzy I don't have that box as an option. All I have is user name, password and remember me. I'm on an iPad so don't know if the configuration changes. I sign in and literally 5 minutes later at most I'm automatically logged out. If I want to post I always have to sign in again after I hit submit reply before It will show my posts. It's a pain. But since yesterday when I try to do that it just takes me out of the forum completely and deletes my info. It's hit and miss right now as to whether my posts survive.
