| 9 year old MacBean has some huge growth or tumor I went to get my 8 (almost 9-Jan 13) year old Yorkie's teeth cleaned and instead of calling to say I could pick him up, my wonderful vet called to say he'd found a huge mass in a routine x-ray to check his trachea before they used anesthesia. I had another dog, years back with a tumor that was benign, but found so late his liver was destroyed and it couldn't be removed. My husband is an oncologist and says there is no sign on the x-ray of metastatic activity but...can they safely remove large tumors from a 6 pound dog? I love him so much..I can't bear the thought of losing him or of him being in any pain. He has been breathing a bit heavily of late, but very infrequently so I wasn't sure it wasn't too hot in our house. Now I know that may be pain. I hate that I may have missed something. We took an x-ray in September of 2012 and there was nothing. I am so upset and terrified. Any information that is pertinent would be much appreciated. |

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk. I am sorry your boy has a tumor. My family had a senior Airedale, much larger dog, who had a cancerous tumor removed from the back of her mouth, near her throat. Our vet wasn't a specialist, but everything worked out fine and she lived to very old age. Praying that your boy's tumor will be able to be removed and that he will have the same positive outcome. I can imagine how scared you are for your little guy. See a specialist.

| I would definitely recommend getting the opinion of a board certified soft tissue surgeon if surgery is in order. You can find one at: www.acvs.org Please keep us posted. Welcome to Yorkie Talk
