| My puppy has just passed! ;( I had a litter of puppies and this one was the runt. I work for a vet and always took the extra time and care she needed at any cost at work. She was tiny but her new owner begged me to let her go home last week so i let her ( MY BIGGEST REGRET). I knew I should of kept her. Please no one bash me for this. She went home on monday, dec 16th and was completely fine. Last night the owner told me she threw up bile so I gave her instructions directly from my boss ( a vet) and she said she did everything. She said that seemed to help and then a few hours later she threw up bile again, got weak and passed. She was 11 weeks old. My little Jaden is no longer on this earth and I have been sobbing for hours with questions unanswered. I just don't understand what went wrong. |

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Gosh I am so sorry, that poor baby. I can imagine how shocked you were to get the news of her passing. I know I sure would be. Did you ask your vet what could have caused her to throw up bile? Could it have possibly been hypoglycemic shock?

She said it could of been stress of the move in new surroundings shes not use too. I just don't know and I wish there was answers. I searched hypoglycemia puppies prior and she never had any symptoms .....bile was something she never had an issue with, with me. Can that sometimes be a sign? | |

| I'd get a necropsy done... that way you'll get some answers.

| I'm so sorry to read this. The only way you will know for certain what happened, is if you had an autopsy done on the puppy.

| IS this the same puppy that had leg issues and was born very tiny?? If so it sounds like things weren't completely right from the beginning.

Taken from WebMD: Episodes of hypoglycemia often occur without warning-for example, when a puppy is stressed by shipping. Other common causes of acute hypoglycemia are missing a meal, chilling, becoming exhausted from too much play, or having an upset stomach. These events place an added strain on the energy reserves of the liver.

| So sorry for your loss.. Don't blame yourself I know that doesn't help. I had given a lady one of my parti yorkies and within 2 weeks she let him out and got ran over. I had told and told her she would have to watch him.. It just makes your heart ache and you will blame yourself. If the puppy was 11 weeks old she was old enough to go to new home.. It will get better I promise. I bonded with my babies to and was devasted when someone had him 2 weeks was so ignorant and didn't listen to my instructions. It's hard I know.. Huggs!! |

| Allie only throws up bile on an empty stomach... It would certainly ask for necropsy to see why puppy passed.

| You mentioned the puppy was the runt of the litter... and it sounded like he received extra care that the other pups didn't require. If I caught that correctly, you are the breeder? I am sorry for your loss so please don't take the following in the wrong way. Not all that are born alive, are meant to stay alive. Now, anything can and will happen but in general nature sets things up for a reason, a runt is the smallest of the litter for a reason. Please don't beat yourself up over what you might have done to keep this puppy alive longer.... Please do the same for the new owner.... It sounds like this little guy had a bit of a struggle already..... Had you done more, it may have just prolonged his agony or lasted another year before dying, when stronger bonds had been formed in his new home. There's lots more I could say... but,,,,, this thread is about your loss. |
