Thanks again Ladyjane for your kind thoughts and prayers for Calleigh. It really breaks my heart after surgery to hear to moaning. She does that when she's coming out of the anesthesia. I'm sure it's very painful. I know how I felt when I had my hand surgery. I'm looking forward to much better days.

Yeah, I don't like that part either. Usually that moaning is from the anesthesia but it still hurts my heart. Just keep her on her pain meds so that you know she is not in pain....and yes, each day does get better! I medicate my ortho pups for a full week with pain meds to be certain they don't feel anything...or at least as little as I can make it for them.

Thanks so much for your prayer for Calleigh. It is difficult to see her like this. I'm so glad I'm home now, or I'd need to take a vacation. I couldn't leave her after the surgery. TTYS!

I will definitely keep her as medicated as possible. I don't want her to have much pain either. She is a little trooper though. I have to watch that she doesn't run/hop after her surgery. Do you know if she will have a cast? She had a cast with the LP surgery and not with the ACL. For some reason I felt better when she had the cast....

I have never seen a cast on them...a wrap sometimes; but none of mine ever had more than a tiny bandage. I think maybe it is individual with vets doing different things that they think works best.

My Cookie recently had CCL and LP repair done. I forgot to mention what I did with her. She is a wild child and I was totally dreading her recovery...she turned out to be one of the easiest ones yet! I kept her in a stroller 24/7 instead of crating her. That way I could take her with me wherever I was. She ended up loving it! I would take her out for her walks to go potty and when we walked back into the house she would go directly to her stroller! I kept a leash on her when she was in it so she knew not to go anywhere. There is a thread all about her and her surgery and recovery.

I so appreciate your prayers. As I said before, she is a trooper. My main problem with her is trying to keep her quiet. Hopefully, the meds will help with that initially. She came running/hopping to the kitchen this morning. I think I'm going to have to find a way to block off her sleeping area for a little while.

I am serious...try the stroller...before long Cookie was like this in it...and I am telling you, she is a WILD child!!

I'm surprised you hadn't seen a cast for the LP surgery. She had the cast with her first surgery. I thought it was SOP. Live and learn. I did have a stroller for Calleigh and she really liked it. I gave it to a friend when I moved to CA. I think at some point I may get one for her as she ages. I love to walk her to try to keep her weight down. Calleigh is a wild child too. For right now, I think I'm going to try to block off her sleeping area. Tomorrow is the big day. Today is bath day. Sorry your little one had to go through this also.

The ones I have had done were TPLO repairs...they don't need a wrap on them. Maybe it is a different repair? There are a few different types of repairs and different surgeons prefer whatever they feel works best.
