Yes, life is gery rough this week. I've been laying in Ann's TV loft with the furkids and stuffing my face. lol. Took a break from that to stroll around the Grand Canyon and go to a movie. |

And I'll bet you are 100% right about the Hepatic canned having too much fat for him all of a sudden like that. His GI tract hasn't ever had much fat to deal with and then like a nut I panicked thinking his poor little liver was hurting and that I needed to just feed him that easy-liver food as much as I could. All he's had today was his Hill's I/D GI. And I've thought about home-cooking but fearful I couldn't do it just so and he'll fail to get something he really needed. |

lol, nope. Gotta get back home. does your vet think the RC LF is too high in protein? Honestly, even though Ellie has an angry liver her GI tract and pancreas demand ttention even more. Liver is fine with it. |
Oh my just reading this. I am so sorry little Tibbe is going through such a bad time. Sending up prayers for both of you. |

Well, it's been 11 hours since his last stool! And it was a bad one and then nothing! Hard to believe this! When I started this thread I was almost certain he was going to have a rocky night and we'd likely end up in the ER tonight but he's held his own. He's kept down his food, water that he took just before 9:00 pm and has been asleep since. I just woke him and offered him his bowl of water and he drank a good bit just from lying on the couch where we're bunking tonight as it's easier to get towels all over it on his end and we're closer to the back door should we have to hurry out! I'm just amazed at how rocky it was yesterday and how bad it seemed only to see things turn for the good so suddenly! I got some sleep early on and then woke and am just sitting here holding my breath, truly amazed at this blessed turn he took just when it seemed very scary!!! Hoping and praying this holds. Going to go get some Graham Crackers in the kitchen - starving to death now that Tibbe seems to be turning the corner! I feel like a big smile! Bless you all for the prayers and thoughts! Here's hoping the morning stays good and event-less. |
prayers for Tibbe , hope he is feeling better soon.. |
I'm so sorry he's sick. I don't agree about watching this level of illness at home and prefer then in the hospital on an IV. Last time I fed hepatic, that's exactly where Daisy was - profuse gastritis and on an IV. You could try Purina HA or do a nutrition consult for a home cooked. IMO few foods are really appropriate for these dogs and even with the best diets they flare. I couldn't agree more about bad breeding. Every day I administer anticonvulsant medication to the sweetest little bizarre dog. He came not only with epilepsy but with other issues. I look at it this way -- he's the dog he is with a predetermined set of cards. He's much better off with me than with someone else. Keep that in mind that yours is better off with you than with someone else. I'll keep him and you in my prayers. |
Been busy this week. So sorry about Tibbe not feeling well. Sending prayers he is better soon |
