dog Poor little Tibbe. I bet those anals were bugging him. I am glad you get him to the vet when he is uncomfortable. I think when those anals are expressed he will be better. My Yorkies eat sometimes and turn their noses up at times. It has been hot here and mine will not eat when it is hot. I pray little Tibbs will be feeling like his cute self and playing and eating again. |
Chipper throws up when his anal glands are full. I cannot express them myself other than get enough out to relieve him until I get him to the vet. Wish you the best. ~Joanne~ |

Tibbe's bout of vomiting and being off feed then on a lot of feed can play havoc with their anal glands. They are normally expressed as the poop comes out (that's what makes poop stinky), but an interruption of the eat/poop cycle can cause a build up to occur, then they need a little help till everything gets back on schedule. Then there are other dogs that never have a problem, no matter what they eat or not! |

The vet said his anal sacs were still very full so she fixed him up. He's been quite hungry, playful and zesty ever since. Quite fiery again - so good to see him being his little toot self. Just now he totally barked me out until I got up and got him some more food, wanted still more after I gave him quite a bit but I'm keeping his portions still a little smaller than usual. He's just finished his Metronidazole yesterday and had his Hartguard Monday so we're taking it easy on his meal portions, etc., still. The vet's office wanted to give him his Bordatella today but I just wouldn't agree, as I wanted the injectable kind and the vet wants to use Benadryl with it. That's just all a little much right now on the heels of his recent upsets/diarrhea and being on Metronidazole, taking his Heartgard Monday so we're letting his liver, tummy and GI tract rest a while before we think about Bordatella. Those of you that use it, are you all giving your little ones injectable Bordatella with Benadryl first? |
dog Darling Tibbe I am so glad he is feeling better! I am so glad you make your own decisions about your Tibbe's health. I would not give him that shot now either. He has been through so much and his little system doesn't need more stuff. Why bordetella? Do you send him to a kennel? I do not give mine that shot. They never are boarded and my groomer comes to my home so they never go out to the pet shops. I am so thankful Tibbe is his sweet Yorkie self! |
Poor Tibbe...I'm keeping the both of you in my prayers. I tell you, the whole whether to have Jasper's anal glands expressed or not is so confusing to me. He shows no signs of needing it. But, when I research and read about how they can rupture it scares me. But, I don't want to do that if he doesn't them done either. Ugh...I just don't know. I'm so, so glad Tibbe is better though. :) |
Just saw this and caught up on Tibbe. I am so glad he is feeling better. I am so sorry that he and you have to deal with his GI/liver issues. Poor baby. Jeanie I hope your head is feeling better and remember to take care of yourself too as not eating can cause you problems and add being jittery to your stress. I always gate Buster off from the kitchen because he is like greased lightening if something is dropped. I would also wait and let his system get back to normal before getting the Bordatella vaccine. :bigbdaypaHAPPY BELATED 6th BIRTHDAY SWEET TIBBE!!! :bigbdaypa |
I am very happy to hear Tibbe is back to himself. Praying he continues to do well. |

Tibbe is driving me crazy being a scamp today! He's back to his old self and feeling very feisty. Driving me crazy with his WANTING things this morning. Well, more like DEMANDING things this morning. He's after me to play, get him things, chase him, get him kibble treats and do his training! Just barks me out if I don't act immediately and WHO can resist that tiny, fuzzy, too-cute, smiling face standing way down there on the den floor demanding its "rights"? Not me! It's not going to be a quiet day around here today and I love it! This is the "old Tibbe" - driving me nuts and always on the go. This is the way it should be! :) |
Yay Tibbe! Haha.... So glad to hear this. On the vaccine... if it's not core don't... vaccs are processed through the liver, maybe titer something to see if he has protection .... if you insist I would not do the intranasal bordetella. Been hearing and reading that this B vacc can cause the disease...IDK. |
Nothing like a happy ending... |
