Just got back from vet

I know I used to give Bentley a tiny piece of steak...forget about it. It upsets his stomach and I don't give anything other than his food...even as treats he will get maybe 5 pieces as a treat.

Yeah, I can't believe some give steak as a treat! At least I'm lucky bf listens when it comes to what not to give Uni. There's ONE thing me listens to me about.

Thank goodness or it is just so sad that our pups are sick for something preventable!

Is lean beef bad for dogs?? I didn't know this. I do occasionally give a small piece of lean beef if we are eating it and he seems to be ok with it. Is it just some dogs that are super sensitive to certain foods? Thank you.

Rosie ate tonight and played with Mikki today. However, she is back to laying on me again. . If she doesn't get back to normal we will be returning to vet.

Hoping little Rosie is laying on you just because she likes to be close, not that she is sick. Good news though that she ate tonight and played. Praying she is ok.

I hope he gets it before she gets really sick with pancreatitis. She already has a history of tummy issues. Just ask him how he would feel if she died, because quite frankly it is not as far fetched as some might think. I never realized until this past year just how serious pancreatitis can be. My son's pup went to the vet during the day with it and they took her to the EC for fluids during the night...she died four hours later. When my George recently was diagnosed, I went directly to GCVS after my vet did the initial exam. They did a full work up with an ultrasound and found he had fluid on his abdomen and chest and mind you the vomiting had only started that day.. they gave him a 50/50 chance of making it...they gave him plasma and he did make it but it made a believer out of me. Of course, those two did not have any food and yes, they can get it without it BUT most cases really are related to food. You really, really need to find a way to make a believer out of your husband! This really frightens me.

I hope so! My son used to make fun of me...he is now a believer and is very careful about food. They have two small pups..one is a yorkie. And, when he comes here I see him reminding his son to be careful about dropping food when eating.

We had only had our 4 year old Abby for a week, when she got very sick from something we (I say to be nice, but it was my husband) had fed her. Although I didn't realize the seriousness of eating table scraps, I didn't think it was a good idea, but he didn't think it was a big deal. We were used to big dogs, Abby is our first little one. After 2 vet visits, and 4 days of thinking we might lose her, she won't be getting table scraps again. Even when she stares at us with those big brown eyes.

I hope Rosie continues to get better! It took Abby a good 6 days and she was completely 100% back to herself.

My Jilly was a dog that couldn't have one tiny scrap of anything - even other dog food - besides what her GI tract would allow which was just one kind of dog food, of all things Science Diet for Sensitive Stomachs(!) so I came to know those big brown eyes well but after enough vet trips and seeing her so very, very ill to the point of nearly dying, I became the most ardent food warden ever. You will go to any lengths to keep them from hurting or cramping or being so sick. I would put her specially made treats from her food beside the plate and pretend I was taking them from the plate from time to time so she felt included when we had big, fancy meals or high-smelling fast foods. She was probably not really fooled but she went along and acted as if felt she'd had special things all the same and seemed happy to get bites "from our plates" that tasted suspiciously just like her other specially-made treats.
