YT Addict | ![]() Thank you kimp5. ![]() ![]() I know she's fought through a lot, I guess that's why I worry something simple might topple her. But truly, she is such a hardy girl. Her last few dentals (I don't get them more than once a year) she has had trouble waking from the anesthetic sometimes and is very dopey all day afterwards. Sometimes it's hard to get her to eat again. I just want her to be okay no matter what. Oddly enough it will be done a day before her birthday. Not the most fun way to celebrate, but I'm hoping her poor wee mouth will feel better the next day so she can really enjoy her kibbles. (I still dont dare give her any treats.) I was hoping to get her hair and nails trimmed while she is under, but my vet only shaves dogs, no grooming servies. I read on another post that shaving a Yorkie's hair ruins it, is this true? She doesn't have anything like a standard coat, so I suppose it's no real worry. I just want to be certain it grows back! lol.... Our weather is finally warming and I want her to be comfortable, otherwise I wouldn't bother them with it. Every time I try to cut her coat I make a real mess of it. ![]()

| ![]() Jess was shaved when she went through leg surgery and it grew back fine.. She was spayed and had her dental and a leg xray all yesterday. She is doing fine..Jenna will too I saw somewhere on here where someone made bday cake treats from the dogs kibble. they soaked it in water then rolled it into one big flat kibble. Then they baked it, I not sure how long. It ends up being like little cracker treats but from the kibble..It was a great idea.. |

YT Addict | ![]() Thanks kimp5, all good thoughts. ![]() It's funny, she doesn't have much appetite in the morning (good for that day, she'll have to fast from midnight) but as she sees our other dog get her mini meals during the day, suddenly she wants to eat more too. I am having a time keeping her to the 1/2 cup kibble per day that her vet asked for. But a nice baked treat might help once in awhile. ![]() I'm not a great cook but I'm guessing the oven temp can't be over 300 degrees, right? Seems to me that is the basic cooking heat I see in other dog cookie recipes. I think Jenna knows what's coming. She's been extra clingy lately. Poor thing, she hates being left at the vets. ![]()

| ![]() Jess is 5lbs and 1/2 cup a day she is starving! I have to add treats and chicken or give her a few extra kibble during the day..My vet said yesterday " you prob wont get her to eat today after her spay and dental" I said "yes, she will this dog lives for food" she went home and inhaled her kibble and chicken and was looking for more |

YT Addict | ![]() Oh my...lol...that sounds like our other dog, Ebon, she's supposed to be a husky/dachshund/Pomeranian cross (but she really just looks like a Corgi/border collie) and you have to be certain that you aren't eating anything too close to her or it will get snatched. Jenna was fine with just two meals a day until Ebon came along. I have to wonder if she's got a wooden leg she hides all this food in! 0_0 Jess sounds adorable. Is there a picture of her on the site somewhere?

YT Addict | ![]() Thanks I'll go check those out. I have pix of Jenna on here, but most are only from her first year with us. I should update. Okay...a few last questions before tomorrow; If Convenia is offered as the injectible antibiotic of choice...has anyone used it and is it safe? I know it's relatively new and I don't want to take a chance with something that is not as routinely used or caused problems. Also...ketamine...I know this is the sedative that is used often at my vets...same question...safe or unsafe? Jenna has had trouble waking from anesthesia/being sluggish after dentals anesthesia before and I wonder if this is what they used. I've heard it can cause seizure activity so I'd like some opinions, please. Many thankies and if this needs to be bulleted in another forum section I'll do that. ![]()

YT Addict | ![]() Hi Twalla, ![]() No, she mostly had a very red, itchy rash with hives all over her body, she was having trouble breathing and her heart rate was through the roof. Her ears were beet red, like someone had colored them with a felt marker. She may have one of those crusty bits on one of her pads still, but other than that she is fully recovered. (((((Vibes))))) for your pup. Does he still look like that? I have heard of the blackening skin but Jenna never really had that happen. My vet put her on the pentoxifylline because she was believed to be as swollen and itchy on the inside as she was on the outside. ![]() I hope your pup is feeling better. ![]()
