Donating YT 30K Club Member | Thanks. Roxie was doing the random throwing up before I switched her food. I did it really slow and it seems like she may be throwing up a little less frequently. Roxie is also overweight, so maybe that is contributing to her problem. I am working on that and will talk to her vet tomorrow to get her advice on her weight. LJ did Teddy Bear have any abnormal blood work? I pray it's not LS that would devastate me right now. I will mention this to her vet as well.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | It does seem like it started as she put on weight. I have been negligent in monitoring their weight this past year and I am going to do everything to get it back to normal. Thanks

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yeah, it doesn't take much for these little ones to put on extra weight. Joey breeder said that you really have to watch it after age 6.

| Patti, it could be overkill but is not terribly expensive to do BATs. After my experience, I would do them on any dog that had those symptoms. I am thankful it was caught before his liver was a mess and he had multiple shunts. The specialist said that he must have had fairly decent blood flow through the liver to be in the shape he is. Just very lucky.

| It is probably something benign. Lab work is always good. Xrays are good. Bile acids testing in yorkies is never wrong even with normal liver values. Has she been overeating or is the weight gain out of nowhere? Ellie's xray looked fine except for a bit of a large mediastinum. We didn't go to endoscopy bc her symptoms went away with diet change (tends to happen with homecooked food probably bc of one or more ingredients and maybe the moisture, BalanceIT, and some other irritating powders). Kibble and kibble with sweet potato works for her. She does have a liver problem. No idea if it is related.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Thanks. I will talk to her vet tomorrow hopefully. We are getting some snow tomorrow and I hope I can shovel out by 3. Mine all gained weight as I have been to generous with treats since Ken's illness and passing. I think they have been taking advantage of my laxness. lol Also lack of exercise. I have cut out a lot of the treats.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Just got back from the vet. I didn't get to see her vet. They called me this morning and said my vet was sick and not going to be in for a few days. I opted to see a new vet rather than wait. Roxie's blood work was normal except for an elevated liver enzyme GGT. The normal range is 0-7. Roxie's was 9. We discussed liver shunt possibilities and esophagus problems. She felt with Roxie being overweight that she didn't look like a candidate while not impossible. We are going to retest her liver enzymes in 2 weeks with a more extensive test and she called in a Rx for a liquid Pepcid. Roxie is next to impossible to get pills down so that's why the liquid. If the pepcid doesn't help, and the liver enzymes are elevated I will take her to a specialist to further evaluate the esophagus and liver issues. It's not the best news but hopefully whatever it is is mild and can be treated. Please keep her in your prayers. Thanks

| Roxie Thanks for the update, even though your regular vet was not there it sounds like the one you did see was helpful. It is always concerning when tests are out of normal range, but we pray that the retest shows she is fine. Hope the new food together with the liquid Pepsid make Roxie feel better. Perhaps she will run around more and lose a little weight? That is always good for us and humans. :-) Good Luck and prayers all will be well. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Thanks! I am trying to find ways to get Roxie more exercise. She won't walk without the others and I can't walk all three. The place I get their dog food from is opening a doggy day care and I asked if I could bring them their and let them run around for an hour. It's going to be 8.00 an hour but x 3 dogs it isn't something I can do on a regular basis. Once the weather is better I will try walking her and putting the other 2 in the stroller. I am so afraid of running into loose dogs and not being able to grab all 3. But weight loss for Roxie is a priority. That's good to know about the Pepcid. The pharmacy called and it will be ready tomorrow. I do wish I could have seen her regular vet she is so familiar with my girls and me. She's not an alarmist but is great at diagnosing. Hopefully, the pepcid will work and with some weight loss she will get better.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I fed Roxie at 10 pm last night. At 2:30 she regurgitated most of her food from the 10 pm meal. She is still wanting to eat and acts pretty normal. I gave her her pepcid at 3 pm today and fed her at 3:30 so we will see if she keeps it down. I gave her a smaller meal to see if that helps. I called her vet's office this morning and can't get her in until Monday at 2 pm. I am on the cancellation list for any vet but really want to see her vet. I am going to have X-rays and schedule a bile acid test so I can get to the bottom of this. I am so worried about her. Please keep her in your prayers.
