Roxie's blood work was normal except for an elevated liver enzyme GGT. The normal range is 0-7. Roxie's was 9. We discussed liver shunt possibilities and esophagus problems. She felt with Roxie being overweight that she didn't look like a candidate while not impossible. We are going to retest her liver enzymes in 2 weeks with a more extensive test and she called in a Rx for a liquid Pepcid. Roxie is next to impossible to get pills down so that's why the liquid. If the pepcid doesn't help, and the liver enzymes are elevated I will take her to a specialist to further evaluate the esophagus and liver issues. It's not the best news but hopefully whatever it is is mild and can be treated. Please keep her in your prayers. Thanks |
I just hate it when I can't see my regular vet, I just love him, but then I understand why you wouldn't want to wait. I've read that other things can cause a slight jump in liver enzyme levels, but I can't remember what, I'm sure others here will know. Hope it's not serious and your baby is feeling better soon. One thing about the pepcid, it seems to work imediately and you'll know if it helps in 24 hours. Good luck!
