This all sounds good. The vet monitored for any symptoms and kept him to make sure he was done vomiting. They don't want him going home right away as some owners would allow the dog to eat and that would cause more vomiting. They may have given him charcoal to absorb any poison that is going through his system, and thats best on an empty stomach. Sending prayers...

and he did get the injection of vita k at the vets unsure about the charcoal still waiting to hear on that

Sounds liek every thing has been done correctly. I will say prayers that Shorty will be just fine.

This right here is why I love YT, now shorty in not a yorkie but I knew that I could come here and get vital information from friends to help me with this. I cant imagine not having you all to come to when I need help with my furbaby or as you can see "granddogs". This is a great group of people and I am so blessed to be part of this family.

Totally different circumstances and a full grown black lab, grabbed a possum...the possum had recently eaten the rat poison the dumb stupid dork neighbor put out...my dog was fine immediately after, I buried the poor possum, never occurred to me that possum had rat poison...my dog didn't bleed, 2 days after I noticed his skin was orange, rushed to the vet...my dog did not survive.

I'm sorry to put a bad light, I just want you to know what can happen.

P.s. His name was Hugo, he bit the possum, shook it like dogs do, dropped it and that was it.

Just got back from letting out my granddog he is looking fine, he peed and pood this morning with no visible blood and when I let him out he peed several times I looked very closely and it was just yellow in color, he was very playful and happy to see me. I will be going back @ 3pm to let him out again so next update will be after that.

Yes... I lost my first Yorkie at 5 months old because he got into rat poison. I had NO idea and do not keep it any where in my house, but I had taken him every where with me, so I have no idea where he got it. Anyways, it was HORRIBLE.

Did they give Shorty Vitamin K? My vet had told me that if I had known he ate it and took him straight to the vet they would pump him up with vitamin K, since rat poison is a blood thinner, that is a coagulator to help thicken the blood as the poison works it way out of his system. Anyways, I wouldn't wish that on anyone, it brought me to my knees watching him die before my eyes by bleeding out.

I'm sorry if Im scaring you or making you upset. I know first hand what rat poison can do and I am very sorry your family has to watch and go through this. I pray Shorty does well and recovers nicely.

Be sure you glance at his gums, if you didnt think to do that....and thank you, this is the first day I have been out of bed in 10 days, and I have enough of a cracked voice that I was able to make an appointment for the dr tomorrow...need a permit to get back into work on Monday....I think I am actually going to survive! Thank you.....thanks to everyone that was kind enough to show concern....

No No I am glad to learn all of this information I am so so happy that it was not my Charlie, but you know , and im sure we all do it we take our babies with us everywhere but I would have never thought to ask if there is rat poison down anywhere. I am sorry for the loss of your baby

Yes I have been checking gums actually the vet told the kids to watch all openings for blood when I went today both times I wiped his nose with a tissue to make sure there was no blood he looked at me like I was nuts LOL and I have looked on the belly and in the ears too, so far nothing showing any blood. The vet didnt believe he had ingested to much based on what he had vomited out considering how quickly they got him there, please keep praying it never hurts.

I am glad you are feeling better 10 days is a long time to be sick, allot of ppl are down with a flu of some kind.
