This all sounds good. The vet monitored for any symptoms and kept him to make sure he was done vomiting. They don't want him going home right away as some owners would allow the dog to eat and that would cause more vomiting. They may have given him charcoal to absorb any poison that is going through his system, and thats best on an empty stomach. Sending prayers...
