I don't know either, but she should try to get some of the costs back. Why was the pup on antiboiotics?

Cinders had an episode with very low blood sugar after shots, throwing up, almost the same as your pup. They tried to put in IV's- she was too small, gave her sugar and water orally- but not antiboitics. Do you remember why they gave her antiboitics?

I do think that the best course is to meet with her in person instead of over the phone. Especially if she is clearly avoiding your calls right now. Get your info set as fast as you can and get there. The longer you wait the worse for you.

The ASSUMPTION here on YT is that if your getting your pup young you MUST be buying from a horribly bad breeder. And, of course, it's going to have all kinds of socializing, pottying & biting problems.

I just laugh. Glad you'll be able to laugh with me too in a few weeks!

I am hesitant to call back bc I am already so upset. And after going over everything in my head and thinking of everything I did for the pup, that it had to have been sick prior to me purchasing it. When she was weighed at the vet she weighed 2.07lbs on Saturday. I did alot of research on breeders, emailed a few, and found one on the AKC website offering her pups and went to visit today. The things I saw today were 100% different from when I purchased Lola. So I can state that the first breeder did wrong. The lady I visited today did everything she possibly could to reassure me about her puppies. I saw the mother, the father, all of the puppies, and even one of the moms pups from a litter the previous year who is about one. I felt so much more comfortable talking with this lady and she enlightened me on many things with the puppy. All her dogs, even the pups, were socialized and all had great personalities. So I know that the breeder I delt with first was wrong. In your opinions what should I say to this lady? And with not being able to have a cause of death, how do I go about talking to her. I could care less about getting my money back, if it happens it happens.
I REALLY hope that you go after the original breeder, though. If she gets away with this with you she will get away with it again, perhaps she has before. If it were ME, I'd be making this gal's life a living hell so that she NEVER BREEDS AGAIN!
As for what to say to her, well, I'd start out being VERY calm but stern. Get your plan together- let her know what you want and be straight about it, don't sugar coat things just to be nice. You are NOT out of line asking for your money back. All of it. You can ask for the vet bills but as long as she gives you back your entire amount (including "non-refundable deposit") I probably wouldn't push it too hard. However, IF you are taking her to small claims court as you mentioned before, you need to be prepared to ask for EVERYTHING. Bring her copies of the vet bills and the FL Pet Lemon Law. If you were calling her from a cell phone copy down every time you called her. Keep and print out every text you sent her. Show her all of the documentation you have from everything that happened from the very begining. Bring someone with you who can stand up for you but NOT to gang up on her. Stop at the local police station first and try to file a complaint and to at least make them aware of the situation in case she tries to call them on YOU.
You really need to get this woman shut down. I know it is asking a lot of you but you can stop this from happening to someone else.
Best of luck! (((HUGS)))

or more commonly... health problems...as we agreed before there is always the exception to the rule...as a rule of thumb it is always best that a pup stays with its mom NOT less than 10 weeks...most ideal is 12...or longer if need be.

Yes! You cannot have too much documentation! EVERYTHING needs to be documented and please go to the police BEFORE going to her.

Have you checked the YTCA website, they are the mother club and they have some excellant breeders. Lot of members live in Fl. Yorkshire Terrier Club of America About The Club

Just because a breeder is a member of the YTCA does not mean he/she is reputable. The YTCA is merely a place to start looking, but I do believe there are breeders out there who are reputable who don't wish to be members of the YTCA. The consumer should be alert to red flags...I am always astounded at the people who refuse to look at them...they just want what they want and if someone will give it to them even if it makes no sense, they go with that someone. Then, if something happens, they are like...omg I had no idea. Denial.

Just like the AMA....just because a doctor is a member, it does not mean he/she is reputable.

Good and bad in everything.

Yeah, I don't blame you, these breeders have promised to uphold the YTCA conduct of rules. Another member bought a dog from a breeder who sold the dog at 10 weeks, and the dog ended up having severe problems, in my opinion a breeder who takes this type of shortcut, takes shortcuts in other ways as well. I personally would write the club if I were you and tell them about this. They can't take official action because he didn't actually sell you the dog, but I'm sure they could do something. Being on the YTCA list is no guarantee of being a good breeder and not being on the list doesn’t mean they aren’t a good breeder. The list is just a guideline, you still need to clearly understand what makes a good breeder and ask the right questions, and follow you gut. Care to name names on this thread, I know we have YTCA breeders reading Yorkietalk.

That way, people wanting a baby would be so much better informed about what they need to be aware of as far as vet qualifications, good breeders, healthy puppies, etc. There are soooooooo many critical components that go into buying a tiny, living creature.....and if all of these components do not come together, you end up with these circumstances.....there are several posts above that are clearly correct.....babies too small, too tiny, tooooooo YOUNG, going out to people that some "breeder" finds that does not knw any better, taking on a baby they are not ready to take......if this breeder was worth the sweat off her butt, she would NEVER have allowed this tiny baby to go to ANYONE....she should have kept this precious saoul and made sure it had all that it needed to survive, even if that means holding that baby until it is 6 months old....or even for ever. It is so discouraging to keep seeing time and time and time again, puppies pushed out too young....people having NO CLUE about breeding or whelping, ending up responsible for a pregnant female and a litter of babies.....it seems experienced breeders get on here and repeat ad nauseum (sp), over and over and over.....and it continues to fall on deaf ears. People, there are pure, unadulterated crooks out there that see $$$$$$$ in breeding and everyday, throw dogs together, get babies, then find cluless people to pam these sickly babies off on.....babies too tiny, and too young.....that is how these people make money on these dog.....invest NOTHING in the prenatal care, invest NOTHING in post natal care, dump babies BEFORE THEY CAN GET SICK AND DIE ON THEM......let them die on YOU.....why do you think they can sell them so cheap?????? THEY HAVE NOTHING INVESTED IN THE BABY!!!!!!!! I am sorry for the rant....I just get so discouraged reading day after day after day the same stories....over and over and over.....PLEASE PEOPLE....READ AND RESEARCH AND LEARN ALL YOU CAN ABOUT GETTING A PUPPY...WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A BREEDER, IN A BREED OF DOG, IN A VET, ETC....STUDY FOR AT LEAST 6 MONTHS BEFORE YOU GO OUT AND FIND SOME GOOD DEAL, BUY IT AND END UP WITH A DEAD BABY WITHIN A WEEK.
Judy I hear you on many levels. Don't get discouraged with the disproportionate number of folks on here who want to breed (clueless) etc, it is just that this forum attracts so many, as well we are so many posts and members, and if anyone does a search on anything Yorkie up we pop on the search engines.

Hugs my friend.

That's how i found this place, a google search. And I've learned so much. This is a great place to learn, do research before you buy a yorkie, learn after you get one, and support for your growing dog. Sympathy one one crosses rainbow bridge too.

If I had known all I know now, I'd still get a yorkie- not as young, but I'd still have one. The information this group of people has amazes me! That's why the membership is so high, and a new server is needed for all the posts!
