| 7am trip to ER vet.... A couple days ago I posted that Fletcher was having ear problems, he was itching his ears a lot, I put drops in them and he's been fine ever since. Well this morning I woke up at 6am to hear Dexter on the floor, coughing and whining and pacing. I picked him up to snuggle and when I went to pet his head, he practically screamed. He hacked for awhile and I kept tapping his back and sides to try to help him get up whatever was stuck in his throat. After about 20 mins he was still struggling so I got up with him and turned on the light, I noticed he was favoring his ears, shaking his head and when I touched his ear he yelped and pulled away, so I pulled his ear up and noticed it was crusty like. I tried drops and he would have none of that. He was shaking and kept shaking his head. So, at 7am, off to the ER vet we went. Turns out, he has a VERY mild ear infection in both ears. The vet said it was more than likely allergy induced, they did smell bad and a swap came out with brown goop on it in both ears, but as bad as he was acting , the infection was not that bad at all. It was not bacterial, but she did give him some antibiotic ear drops. Allergies... really? She kept saying dust mites, but he did not have ear mites. She did tell me I could use the ear drops on Fletcher too since he's having itchy ears, he probably is allergic too. She told me he was sooooooooo cute and wanted to know his breeder, she also said his teeth looked GREAT and she would never guess hes over 7 years old. I told her he had a dental in April and she said it's holding up great. YAY! Soooo $120 later, he has drops 2x a day for a week, he will be fine, hes a total baby and give him benedryl 2mls, 2-3x a day for the allergies. I'm just so thankful it was not worse!

| I'm glad thats all it was. They can be dramatic, can't they? I took Huey to the vet emergently a little over a month ago (thats how I found this forum...I was trying to diagnose him while deciding if needed to see the vet immediately or if I should just watch him). He was puky, then became unsteady, swaying back & forth while standing still, then his legs slowly collapsed and he acted like he was unable to walk. I videoed the behavior and took him as soon as the vet opened. After I watched his deterioration for 8 hours, as soon as he got to the vet, he started walking around the room, sniffing all the corners and acted like nothing had ever been wrong. The vet thought I was a histrionic idiot, I'm sure, because I felt that way about myself when we got there and he was fine. I thought the little s__t was gonna die. He scared me to death. Drama.. .

| uuummm.. yeah ... drama galore from my little guy! Even the vet said he was just acting dramatic. lol I thought I better rush him to the ER vet, but I guess I could have waited another hour to take him to the regular vet. Oh well.... rather be safe than sorry, and at least it only made me 1 hour late for work, not more by waiting for the other vet to open. Dexter is my baby (self created part), and he plays the part well!

| I think even little things can bother these little sweeties. I don't think he was being dramatic at all. I'm sorry, but I heard a vet tell a lady her dog was beeing a drama queen one time and never could even give an acurate diagnosis. I know they have personalities, but I don't think being dramatic is the issue when they are sick. I just think they feel things more intently than say a bigger dog. I'm so happy that Dexter will be taken care of with this infection. Hopefully, you can pinpoint the allergy.

But on a lot of fronts, Dexter is my little drama boy. He screams in the car the WHOLE ride usually. HE won't let anyone hold him if I'm in the room or house. He'll hold out eating until either I, or my husband, hand feed him. His paws hardly ever touch the ground. He knows how to be loud and persistent until he gets what he wants, and that usually a good spoilin'. All day long! haha Ah well, I never had kids, so in essence, he is my child. (and Fletcher is too)
