Default 7am trip to ER vet....

A couple days ago I posted that Fletcher was having ear problems, he was itching his ears a lot, I put drops in them and he's been fine ever since. Well this morning I woke up at 6am to hear Dexter on the floor, coughing and whining and pacing. I picked him up to snuggle and when I went to pet his head, he practically screamed. He hacked for awhile and I kept tapping his back and sides to try to help him get up whatever was stuck in his throat. After about 20 mins he was still struggling so I got up with him and turned on the light, I noticed he was favoring his ears, shaking his head and when I touched his ear he yelped and pulled away, so I pulled his ear up and noticed it was crusty like. I tried drops and he would have none of that. He was shaking and kept shaking his head. So, at 7am, off to the ER vet we went.

Turns out, he has a VERY mild ear infection in both ears. The vet said it was more than likely allergy induced, they did smell bad and a swap came out with brown goop on it in both ears, but as bad as he was acting , the infection was not that bad at all. It was not bacterial, but she did give him some antibiotic ear drops.

Allergies... really? She kept saying dust mites, but he did not have ear mites. She did tell me I could use the ear drops on Fletcher too since he's having itchy ears, he probably is allergic too.

She told me he was sooooooooo cute and wanted to know his breeder, she also said his teeth looked GREAT and she would never guess hes over 7 years old. I told her he had a dental in April and she said it's holding up great. YAY!

Soooo $120 later, he has drops 2x a day for a week, he will be fine, hes a total baby and give him benedryl 2mls, 2-3x a day for the allergies. I'm just so thankful it was not worse!
