I gave up trying to figure that out long ago, Rhonda. Just unexplainable.....

They postponed little Jack London's tests until tomorrow. He is resting comfortably on some good pain medications!

Thank goodness he is in a safe place now and will get the care and attention that he needs. What is wrong with people to let this little soul go so long with such an injury , and you wonder what on earth caused this!!

Oh my Linda I was just on YHR web site and saw him and then I come on here and see this post.

This just makes me so very, very sad that he is in so much pain and that breathing is just horrible.

I will be saying prayers that he starts feeling better soon and they are able to help him.

I know he is good hands and will be taken care of with lot's of love.

They are concerned about these ribs floating as they could still puncture a lung. not to mention he has no protection on that side with no ribs. Just beyond sickening.
Oh...there is no doubt that he suffered something very traumatic. That was not a simple injury to do that kind of damage.

I do not get these kind of owners = downers.
They are like the jerks who allowed Summer to suffer so long with her bites. Sending prayers for this poor baby. I am glad he is in kind and loving hands.

His breathing really looks worse than it is. Not to say he has no issues, but he is not in horrible respiratory distress and has good air exchange. BUT...his ribs are floating and could cause damage....and he has no protection there because the ribs are missing.

His chest always caves like that due to the missing ribs, but the breathing does slow some. She took that video outside and he was breathing a bit heavier. It may be that his trachea is collapsed in which case he will need to be more of an a/c pup. I am hopeful that if it is CT, it can be managed well medically. Some of them do quite well. The first thing though is to fix that chest...looks awful. Oh, and his hip, of course.

I know. It makes me sick to see pups treated so badly. Pure neglect. Summer, by the way, is doing fantastic. Just wish she would find her furever home...it makes it so much harder when it takes longer...at least it does for me. I feel terrible when they have to adjust...but one day her home will come along and it will be perfect. She is a total love.

I am assuming they did not lacerate spleen or liver....wouldnty you just LOVE to get your hands on whoever did this to this baby.... Does he have ANY intact ribs on the injured side....I keep forgetting this is an old injury....maybe those ribs will have to be re-broken.....??? This little baby has such a long, rough, row to hoe..... maybe they can use a plate to stabilize the ribs, rather than splinting each one individually or one to each other....I know A&M will know the best, safest, most up to date way to do it.... This baby will get the very best in vet medicine at this facility....that, and prayers, is all that can be done.....

Well, the description was about one end to a rib but I was not totally clear on it.......but I think they are using an external splint for them. Not sure how many are fractured. I will get more details after we know exactly what they are doing. They won't know for sure until the u/s is done.
