She goes to poo and even though she HAS (even just this morning), there are times that she will squat and then jump up before she poos and yelp. I know it's hurting her but is it because of the pressure on the wound when she pushes to poo or should I be looking at something else? Again, she's poo'd (once this morning and 2 times yesterday) so she's not NOT going..just sometimes seems like she can't and it hurts

That sounds unusual to me. Although they will be a bit sore the first day I have never had a dog have pain when peeing or pooing after a spay. Are you sure she is peeing OK? I have heard of females having urinary infections after a spay. It is not common but it does happen. I would watch her carefully and try to see if she is actually peeing a normal amount when she goes. It should not be painful to either pee or poo. Usually they are just kind of groggy the first day and then a little slower than usual the second day. Mine have always been pretty much back to normal by the third day.

I will check on her pee amount with her next pee.

The pain (when she jumped up and whined) was when she was squatting..like to poo. And she keeps walking now with her tail pulled all the way down and a little with her hips tucked under her at times. Also, she looks like she keeps trying to turn around with her mouth to reach for her booty. Something at her tail or booty is definitely bothering her.

Any thoughts?

Did you take Mandi to the vet as a result of the pain when poo'g? She could be battling to pass a stool after her anesthetic. Sometimes this causes them to be constipated and of course that can cause them to have difficulty in passing and pain. After surgery some don't eat well or especially drink much leading to constipation. They just need some liquid paraffin 2mls (check with your vet first in case there is a post-op complication.) Hope she has recovered by now & is feeling like her old self..

I haven't contacted the vet yet because she is poo'ing (so far). I've been making sure she eats good and drinks her water. She probably wouldn't drink enough on her own, though...I've been giving her water with a dropper a lot to compensate.

I will definitely contact the vet if this continues. I can't have my baby uncomfortable or in pain..it kills me.
