Update On Riley's Reaction To Vaccination...

HERE IS THE UPDATE:

As of last night he was back to his 100% Self!!

I JUST LOVE MY VET!!
He called me first thing this morning!
I told him about Riley's reaction and then just listened to what he to say.
He said All the Right things!!

He said that after the first couple of vaccines, they would normally do them every 3-years... He suggested for Riley, doing Titers from now on... which they send to Cornell University for the results... He then suggested when we do rabies, that I make an appt. for first thing in the morning during the week, so that if he ever has a reaction to that, they will be there and I can swing him back in there... [I always incorporate Riley's visits with a visit for the rest of the day, to my parents, who aren't far from his office...]

I couldn't be Happier to see my little Pumpkin running all around, playing and acting Totally Normal!!!! YAAAAAAAAY!!!!

so glad riley has recovered! that had to be a very scary event and i'm so glad everything turned out well! trust me, i know, my angel nika had bad reactions to vaccines too.

Oh My. I just read this. Poor Riley boy. Austin and Chelsea are up for distemper boosters next month. Now Im nervous to even take them. Im glad he is better.

I did some research... Distemper only vaccs have been discontinued. The only vaccine I could find was a distemper/parvo combo, which would still be better, than a 5 or 7 way vaccine combo. Also, know which company made the vaccine, and avoid them in the future.

The law in DC does state that dogs are to be vaccinated against Rabies and Distemper on a yearly basis, which is unusual as most states only require a Rabies Vaccine every 3 years, by law. Might want to send a copy of the AAHA Vaccine Protocol to your Mayor. Hopefully your vet may be able to do a waiver for Riley.

Yeah.... apparently they require Distemper because of all the RATS, SQUIRRELS, Yucky Looking PIGEONS [LOL!!] and believe it or not TONS of OPPOSUM who are going around Peeing on everything and then the pups walk on or through it... especially puddles when it rains...

Another reason I am glad Riley is peepee pad as well as outdoor trained.
I definitely don't like him walking through the puddles in DC....!!

I am thrilled your little Riley is 100% again!! What a relief...and I love your vet too!! Sounds like he is right on top of the learning curve with vaccines and protocols!!! THAT takes a load off your mind!!

TOTALLY!!
He is an hour + away.... but he is well worth it!
Actually, he is also Kristin/"MAXIMO"'s Vet.
She referred me to them and I can't thank her enough!!
Riley's first vet, in the city a few blocks from my house ended
up not being as Great as they claim to be.

My parents live not too far from him so I always incorporate
a visit with them into it!!

I also have Friendship Animal Hospital in DC which is the Emergency Vet we went to! They are "GREAT", Also! Although of course, not cheap
being an ER Vet, as well!! - A friend of mine used to be a Vet there.
He is now a Vet, up in New York! He said he really misses working there.

Whoop Whoop! Welcome back to feeling great little Riley!!! Our vet is a haul as well but our breeder works there so it's where we feel most comfortable going to. Our ER Vet is somewhat of a haul depending on where the pups are staying but it's the best ER Vet in Western PA - possibly even the state so i'm not complaining.

Riley, Geno gives you a bunch of sloppppy kisses and then plans on pinning you and mouthing you on the neck...it's his signature move when he plays with dogs haha
